The DX7 waits during the bind for a signal from DSM2 receivers like the AR7000 and AR6100. DSM2receivers send a signal back to tell the DX7 that it is DSM2. If that signal is not received within X amount of time, the DX7 assumes its a DSM receiver and sends a DSM signal to the BR6000.

So binding to a DSM will take a bit longer on a DX7.

I dont believe the DSM2 receivers transmit anything. They are a receiver only. As I understand it, the DSM2 protocol is back compatible with DSM but the marketing hype is difficult to decypher from the technical hows and whys.

The DX7 does however have a feature called modelmatch. This means that when you pair receiver (a) with the transmitter on model memory (1) the receiver will not work if you use model memory (2). So if you have changed model memory, it is possible that the receiver needs rebinding.

Thanks for posting that Leo! Very interesting reading!

So the newer receivers transmit their protocol version when they are binding. As a result, if you hit the bind button while switching on, the transmitter assumes it is bound to a DSM receiver and changes the protocol and the newer receivers would no longer recognise the transmission.

So if you use a DSM2 receiver you need to be careful not to knock the bind button during powerup, else the receiver may stop responding.

And it would also be important to note that by virtue, you cannot use a AR6000 and the AR7000 from the same model memory. E.g. If you were using two receivers in your robot from the same transmitter.
Both receivers would either need to be DSM or both DSM2.
