Thread: Eye Of The Robot - Series 3 (My first real tornument!

    Last two!

    The Zenith

    Shape: See picture.
    Colour: See picture.
    Speed: 15mph
    Weight: 100kg
Armour: 6mm hardox ring; wedges are 9mm titanium: the top srimech is 10mm polycarbonate.
    Drive: 2 LEM130s @ 36v.
    Power: 6 NiCad Battlepacks @ 36v.
Motivation: Four small Biohazard style wheels with Vulkalon rubber for grip.
Ground Clearance: 5mm under the ring, and 0mm at the wedges.
Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): For the main body its 80x80x15. Add the wedges and you get 20x120x15
Weaponry: Shell that is powered by a LEM170 motor @ 48v, running at 3000rpm, producing 55kJ of force per blow. Borrowed from superheavyweight S.L.A.M., are four wedges attached to the lower half of the shell, 90 degrees to each other. designed to throw robots across the ring when coming in contact, and OOTAs are definitely feasible. 3 hardox teeth inserted into each wedge will strip off some armour too, or even break it.
Srimech: The 10mm polycarbonate top panel pops up, thanks to a 80mm rod and a 2kg CO2 tank, which should right the robot about 25-30 times in a fight.
Strengths: Can throw and damage at the same time. Fast for a FBS. Fast srimech.
Weaknesses: Can be gotten under easily if wedges are avoided. Average top armour.

    Aftershock

    Shape: Horizontal cylinder
    Colour: See picture
    Speed: 10mph
    Weight: 100kg
Armour: The drum and hubs are 9mm titanium.
    Drive: 2 S28-150s, 24v.
    Power: 4 NiCad Battlepacks, 24v.
Motivation: Two large packed-tight-with-foam tires, like Overkill just less wide. They are very tough even against disc weapons.
    Ground Clearance: 5mm
    Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 95x40x40
Weaponry: The 15kg drum and 5kg hubs are all weapons here. All spin independently through one LEM130 motor each: the hubs have 2 hardox teeth while the drum has 10. The drum spins at 2000rpm and dishes out 40kJ, while the hubs spin at 3500rpm and dish out 30kJ.
    Srimech: Invertible.
Strengths: Destructive, tire weakness is very hard to exploit, flipping it does nothing. Tough armour.
    Weaknesses: Kinda slow, tires exposed.

    Will that suffice?

    Flipping Mad
    Mass - 98 Kg ish
Shape - Box, with skirts, and a wedged front
Colour - Unpainted sides, with a thin layer of black paint on the top.
Speed - 25 mph MAX, although 15 mph is the normal speed, just has that little bit more speed to get out of sticky situations.
TURNING CIRCLE- 0, it uses skid steer
GROUND CLEARANCE- 30mm at rear to 0 at front, reduced to 0 mm on the sides and rear with skirts.
ARMOUR - 6mm titanium shell, attached to a tubular steel chassis with pieces of rubber mounted at locations for shock protection.
Skirts - Simple skirts, which can be removed pending on the battle, the base of the skirt (the part which touches) the ground has some of that hard-wearing paint on it.
WHEELS- 4 wheel drive, giving power from the Bosch 750 drive at 36 volts, think Tornado, the wheels are modified steel wheels with a solid hard rubber outside part.
WEAPONS- A rear-hinged flipping arm, powered by a co2 bottle for 1 piston, has enough power for about 30 flips. The 2nd weapon can be attached to the front wedge, it€™s a sprung wedge, sprung so that it forces the wedge tip into the ground, the strength is that it will be harder to get underneath, hopefully giving me an advantage, but the weakness is that when the wedge is down, the machine€™s top speed is limited as the wedge destroys the arena floor, there is a little lego-style motor which can raise the wedge slightly if needed.

If the sprung wedge is not needed (for example coming up against a robot where it will prove as a weakness rather than strength), the whole lot can be replaced with a bog standard wedge, where the flipper sits down flush, but in reality most of the time I will be using the bog standard wedge, but the sprung is in my weaponry if it€™s needed.

SRIMECH- flipper will be used to self-right it
NOTES- Flipping Mad, older than life, based on the very old flipping mad mark 1 chassis. Let€™s see if the old dog has some tricks left in it.
STRENGTHS- 4 wheel drive, flipper, good driver who knows how to power slid
WEAKNESSES- Was around before the dawn of time, it€™s based on old school technology.

Just really stuck a torsion wedge in the box, chances are that it wont be used, but if both machines are close on paper it might prove to be an advantage, but meh.
