Thread: How Could I Improve...

Eteks are not worth the hassle, you have to get a controller to run reliably with them, and thats not something that happens in the robot world, Eteks need a 300Amp controller which I could never get working reliably so i switched to a different controller which gave me much more sucsess, beat KO, THz, Kronic, Turb Iron Awe and Tiberius to name a few however the controlablity was a sacrifice on power, since Sept 2005 it never ran on 300Amp so it always ran at about 1/4 power and since 2004 it only ran 24v

El Media Diablo, you can fit 2x 1.2(?)Kg bottles but not a 3kg one, dump the hardox for 3mm titanium and get up to 24v under volted motors just stall when put under load, with ur specs and these changes i reckon i could make that within 50kg so i think thats fine

    Thanks a lot Craig
I wanted to use E-teks to try and get a spinning weapon that would rip up the other vapours, so now the search goes on...
Hey, what about the same bar, powered by 2 x B42-500s at 60v?

for a spinner theyre fine, they just use solenoid controllers, so stick with them for a weapon but NOT for drive your wasting ur timea nd just use the 1 2 is a waste of weight, using eteks in a robot is like sitting in a shower tearing up £5 notes, after both u end up miserable and out of pocket and wishing ud invested in something better like lems or a spa

...how would you drive a robot with a spa?

So do you have any idea about the Kj output, or how I could estimate it?

  6. #796
u drive the robot from the spa, youve alot to learn Joey

i only know how to figure out linear energy not rotational, theyre is a big difference

but linear is:- Mass (kg) X (times) Velocity (meters a sec, m/s)2 (squared)

its mainly for ram bots punches and axes, spinners are much more complex to work out

    Try This :-

Once you know the Moment of Inertia of everything that is spinning (usually just the disc gives you a good approximation) then knowing the speed of rotaion will give you the Kinetic Energy, see the examples in the link.

ok so calculators at the ready, to give a basic idea as to what KE you can produce with a spinning disc or bar, you need to do this: -

    1/2 (half) Inertia X angular velocity2 (squared)

Angular velocity is = velocity divided by radius

    Inertia = 1/2 MR2 (squared) M=Mass KG R= Radius Meter

so try and work that out, actually i dont think thats right ill have to check again
