hi all
found when i was testing a prototype of my crushers drive that the wheels seemed a bit slippy, just wondering if they can be improved somehow, to give them more grip?

Clean them. get all the rubbish of the tyre and they will be as good as new again, much better once cleaned, providing your not driving it around on a dirty surface. If you clean them and stick to driving it on wood it will be fine.
Try putting some weight on to the drive to simualate the finished weight of the robot that should improve the traction.
by cleaning do you mean wiping? or something more drastic?
thanks alex
Fairy Liquid and a sponge would work, but if I was you Id just cut some bike tyre to length and screw it on. Drumroll ran at two events at the same weight; one with 100mm blue wheels normally, and one with bike tyre screwed on. The improved grip from the bike tyre enabled me to push other bots about much more than the wheels without tyre, and that was with my robot only weighing 7.5kg.
Whichever method seems easiest and most practical to you though
thats what we have done on beauty
we did it for abit more ground clearance but got us grip to and abit of speed

i used a file to take the top shiny coat off then washed with fairy liquid/water
just from a simple test using my fingers to test the grip it seems to be better
thanks to all
Does anyone think that this wheel http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/product_images/PEB5.jpghttp://www.leisureshopdirect.com/pro...mages/PEB5.jpg found at http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/marine/marine_accessories/accessories/Boat_rollers.aspx?aff=122http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/mar...ries/Boat_roll ers.aspx?aff=122 second from the bottom would work as a featherweight wheel?
Simon
looks ok but the bore dia is 25mm
now that could be hard just to put a nut in for drill motors but if i was u do what Beauty has done blue wheels off the copper boys and glue timming belt around it cheaper as well![]()
