Thread: Throwing out a christmas tree?

  1. #1
This may be a bit premature as the big guy hasnt been to visit yet but I need to get rid of the christmas tree in my living room before heading back for the holidays from uni. Last thing I want is to come back after a week or two to a decaying pile of needles in the corner.

Anyone got any advice on getting it out the living room (its wider than the door frame) whilst causing as little mess as possible (we went for the cheap option so all the needles are going to fall off)?

You could hire a chipper. Then just feed it in.

You might also want to think about putting it on something you can fold up and take outside to shake out.

  4. use a bed sheet and wrap it up from bottom to top and put gaffa tape round the bottom so needles dont fall out. then simply remove said tree out of door and shake bed sheet till there are no needles left in it

there was a guy on Dragons Den, dont know if any of you watch it last week who solved this problem.

It was a like has been suggested basically a sheet which decorates the plant pot most trees sit in, and when wanting to remove the tree came up and over the top, completely sealing the tree and at the top with a draw string. like a sleeping bag.

Simply remove the tree outside, and then undo the cover leaving the mess away from the house.

i thought it was a great idea but he was shot down by the dragons.

Id use a bed sheet, or better still buy a plastic tree - no mess

Yeah i saw that guy Jonno. Great idea but I think he wanted a bit much for it. The tree only cost me a tenner so I wouldnt have bothered with one. Lol I didnt even bother with a stand for the bottom of it, tied it to the wall and put a tray underneath it. God I love being a student

Incidentally it only took me 3 hours, many cuts, 5 empties of my hoover which I nearly burnt out and a lot of swearing to get it out. Bags of fun!
