Wiring a battle switch

Well Alex as I said ..and confirmed by John in the post above ....you really want a different R/C switch.

Jamies speed controller idea is probably the better option .. then all you need is two limit switches with diodes placed across the contacts.. opening the microswitch breaks the supply going to the motor ..thus stopping the linear actuator over travelling.. and the diode ensures that the reverse direction can still be obtained.

Or you can do as I do and get a linear actuator thats already got the limit switches built in

well thats slightly annoying, im sure someone suggested a battleswitch, does anyone know if technobots take products back? will check the website anyway

Yup ......Jamie did back at the beginning of October.

Im just using a servo microswitch system at the moment but the battleswitches on Gimson Robotics would probably be fine (I think youd need two)

Those battleswitches are great for switching big relays for heavy duty disk weapons in a single direction for instance.

But when it comes to working in 2 directions, a dual rc switch like the Robbe 8445 dual is the best way to go. They are pretty cheap as wel (28 euros in holland, so about 19 pounds i guess).

Sorry about that Alex, at the time I genuinely thought it could be used to control an actuator in an FWD-OFF-BACK arrangement but it was only a few days ago I realised that the relay of a battleswitch was just an on-off type.

Paul at Technobots might take it back, or if not, put it up in the For Sale section if you have no other need for it and someone might take it off your hands.

In that case then, me saying I gave Alex the wrong info is incorrect, but its safe to say my information could have been interpreted as being misleading

well seems i got the wrong end of the stick there, luckily jonno says he will swap it for an electronize switcher WILL THIS WORK?????? can someone just give me a yes or no answer so there isnt any confusion.

An electronize electronic switch will work fine and it has a built in failsafe too. Depending on how much current you are pulling you might need to make a relay H bridge for it (which is easy - two SPCO relays and some wire) but you can probably get away with wiring your crusher direct to the electronic switch - it depends on how much current you draw.
