I agree with Paul. Precedent is on Achilles side.
Go with whatever tactics won it for me before sounds like the safest bet.... lol
Heh, another meeting between these two. Yeah, I think Achilles has this in the bag.
Great battles Matty.
You have to admire the loving care with which Alex lays out his complex strategical masterpieces
I will go for GeForce to win, it cant loose all the time.
Achilles (3) v GeForce (19)
Hehe, well isnt this a surprise! I cant say I remember the past encounter with Achilles but Ill try to develop a system of winning. Im guessing it wont be using the hydraulics system, but just in case it does, it will obviously have a slow method of righting itself. If this is the case then really just one flip should do it for me. Try and get under those skirts, or if possible round the back and flip it over. While slowly self-righing, Ill use my drive to push it towards the walls and toss it out like I did with CRAPBAG in Round 2. However Im expecting it to use the pneumatics here which will be a different story all together. First of all I have the far more powerful flipping mechanism, as in reality Achilles system would only produce 500psi I think, but correct me if Im wrong. So if this goes to the judges, at least Ill win on style  In terms of defence my skirting should hopefully stop the majority of its ram or flip attacks. All I can try is use my slower speed to provide slightly more manouverability, get to the back and flip it over, push it to the wall and flip it out. I expect this match to be largely a stalemate.
Welcome to the heat final of Heat B where today, we see Achilles and GeForce going head to head in an all-seed final.

And we€™re off. In a heat full of flippers we have the 2 best here, and straight away both robots come out looking to justify their seeding. Achilles makes the first move and comes over towards GeForce with the flipper, trying to pry underneath the side skirts. GeForce turns round however and the 2 flippers meet. GeForce fires his trying to get underneath, but he hasn€™t got the purchase, and wobbles into the air. Achilles uses this to his advantage and immediately shunts him across the arena and into the Pit Release Button, the earliest it has been opened in any fight so far this series.
As he hits the pit release button however, GeForce falls off the lifter and rolls onto his back, firing the flipper and getting back onto his wheels. Achilles turns around and comes over towards him trying to get underneath again, but GeForce dodges the attack leaving Achilles flying past him. GeForce tries to manoeuvre quickly to get around to the back end of Achilles, however, Achilles moves quicker and the robots meet head on. This time it€™s GeForce who comes out on top, sliding the flipper underneath the front lifting plate of Achilles and throwing him into the air, where he lands in the CPZ of Sir Killalot.
Sir Killalot tries to pin his prey into the corner, but Achilles self-rights and immediately goes about trying to run rings around his attacker. It doesn€™t work however, and Killalot catches the claws on top of Achilles in his own claw and lifts him up into the air. He turns around and tries to drop him out of the arena, but it doesn€™t work as Achilles just falls down outside of the CPZ onto his back. He fires the flipper again and gets back onto his wheels€¦ and onto the wedge of GeForce who immediately begins trying to manoeuvre him around into the side wall, hoping to be able to flip him straight out of the arena.
He fires the flipper when he reaches the side but once again he can€™t get him out of the arena as Achilles just goes sideways and falls back into the arena via the side wall. The flipper fires again and self-rights him, and this time he€™s actually able to make a clean breakaway and try and get himself back into the fight. He manages to get to the back of GeForce easily as he€™s reversing away from the arena wall and shunts him back into it, the impact allowing him underneath the rear skirt. This time its his turn to fire the flipper however it can€™t get him out of the arena, and just pushes him against it, where he struggles on his front. He fires the flipper against the arena wall, and the force is so great that instead of just toppling over the fence, he jumps over Achilles landing directly behind him.
He is unable to use this to his advantage however and Achilles moves away, annoyed that his flipper couldn€™t get GeForce into the right position to throw him out and allow him to justify his seeding at number 3. The two begin to exchange cautious manoeuvres, neither roboteer confident enough that they can avoid another mistake that could be as fatal as the ones they€™ve both already made in this front. It€™s GeForce that breaks the exchange first and hovers into the side of Achilles, giving him a tentative nudge and trying to push him into the fence. Achilles moves away though, with GeForce not being able to get underneath the side skirts. He turns to face GeForce head on, and both robots charge at each other once more, with GeForce once again winning the charge and getting underneath him. Achilles digs in with the rear wheels and refuses to budge but AJ moves him eventually and starts carrying him back towards the wall. Achilles fires the flipper and it unbalances him, making him wobble on the edge of GeForce€™s flipper.
GeForce knows he can€™t get him into the wall form that angle and so fires the flipper, flipping both himself and Achilles over in the process. The difference in weapon power shows as Achilles does a graceful jump back onto his wheels, whereas GeForce performs two 360€™s before eventually getting back onto his wheels. In this time however, Achilles has got himself back under control and is waiting for GeForce to fall to the ground wobbling as he does so. Achilles gets underneath the wobbling mass and decides to push him around. This time however, instead of taking him over towards the arena wall and attempting to get him out of the arena, he chooses to shunt him into the CPZ of Growler. Growler pins him against the wall, but GeForce manages to turn and get the flipper underneath the chomping jaws. He fires the flipper and that doggy wants his tummy tickled as he begins to roll around on his back. Sir Killalot charges across the arena trying to gain revenge, but GeForce is already out of the CPZ and on his way.
He charges over towards Achilles trying to get revenge, but Achilles isn€™t about to be pushed out of this battle and he avoids the charge, mounting his own from the back, ramming into the fence, and into the pit release button again, removing it from the wall this time. The pit is looking empty as it has been open for the whole fight with neither robots in it and that doesn€™t look like it€™s about to change as GeForce charges to the opposite side of the arena with Achilles in hot pursuit.
The clock begins to count down and both robots try to mount one last attack, yet neither manage it as Achilles comes in at the side of GeForce trying to push him around, only for GeForce to move away and try and get in a final attack of his own. It€™s too late however and cease echoes around the arena like this€¦
CEASE
Well that was an incredible fight, and let me just say a very hard one to judge. However to let you know the format for the judging will work like this.
Points out of 10 will be divided between the 2 robots based on Dominance, Control, Style, Aggression and Damage, with each being multiplied by 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. Damage is based not on how much is caused by the robots themselves but also on the situations they have been put in to obtain damage.
Damage - Other than the bumps and scratches, Achilles trip to Killalot swung it.
Achilles - 3 x 5 = 15
GeForce - 7 x 5 = 35
Aggression - Achilles although not always successful did seem slightly more aggressive.
Achilles - 6 x 4 = 24
GeForce - 4 x 4 = 16
Style - Both were equal in style.
Achilles - 5 x 3 = 15
GeForce - 5 x 3 = 15
Control - Achilles always seemed to have better control, especially in self-righting
Achilles - 6 x 2 = 12
GeForce - 4 x 2 = 8
Dominance - GeForce and Achilles seemed to boss the fights for equal periods.
Achilles - 5 x 1 = 5
GeForce - 5 x 1 = 5
Totals -
Achilles - 71
GeForce - 79
I think it€™s going to be controversial€¦ but GEFORCE goes through to the series semi-finals.
Next time on FFW5 -
Heat 3
Whirligig 5.0 (5) v Senkaganzen v Battle Raptor
Salamander 3 (21) v Dead Horse Beater v YACATR
Thoughts? Tactics? Predictions? Comments?
OMG!!! Thats my only thought But I dont get how Killalot damaged Achilles in anyway. All I see when I read is Killalot catches the claws on top of Achilles in his own claw and lifts him up into the air. He turns around and tries to drop him out of the arena, but it doesn€™t work as Achilles just falls down outside of the CPZ onto his back Surely that comes under aggression rather than damage But thats only my thoughts
Heat 3
Whirligig 5.0 (5) v Senkaganzen v Battle Raptor - Whirligig 4.0 is instantly through again (A lot of seeds are getting through easily ) Ive had a look at the stats and predict a win for the seed and Richard.
Salamander 3 (21) v Dead Horse Beater v YACATR - AJ might have won that heat (You were right, Matty - it was controversial :wink but hes not going to wqin this one in a hurry.
Heat Winner: Ill go for either seeds, but most surprisingly Salamander over Whirligig
What you have to realise Paul is that when there is very little damage, any damamge will swing it. and the fact is that the mere miniscule slices that would have occured to Achilles under my judging sytsem would mean that it recieved more damage than the bumps and scratches done to GeForce by just shoving him around.
