More rules, No thanks.

Not allowing materials as Titanium and hardox will diminish the amount of heavies seriously, and I doubt the owners of these machines will rebuild or replace those heavies.

But as non FRA member I cannot oppose any new rule banning or disadvantaging peoples investment in the hobby.
And no driving RW based robot is a boring box. Even as polysterene armored cannonfooder there is a value for those.

You are correct Mario in saying that roboteers would not rebuild, Kan-opener would be finished if such a rule was to be enforced, therefore I do not agree with such a rule, I was merely stating that cost of a robot may not be the only major factor in a robots success.

and even if there was a cost limit - beast and beauty wouldnt matter as my dad gets everything free - apart from all the roboteqs he breaks which costs more then some robots! :@

Ive got to agree with Tom, cost of the machine is not that important, best machine in the world isent any good without a good driver, but a cheap and cheerfull one with a good driver could win.

Just my thoughts on the subject, the rules are fine as they are.

we need more robots and roboteers to join the sport regardless of how high tec or pants (the robots!)they are! Rules should exist mostly for safety reasons. Personally, seeing advanced robots inspires me to do better. Pressures evolution from the mk1 (rubbish!)is a testament to that, the mk4 is another quantum leap and is a direct result of competing with (and occasionally beating) the best.
We should all help and encourage the new and novice roboteers.

Yep, Turbulence was the best last year, but has had major problems as everyone know this year. Mainly due to us not putting the effort in that is needed to stay on top form. Turbulence is going to have to evolve to remain competative for next year, there are a few upcoming teams who show lots of promise.

Robot Wars is a constantly evolving hobby... as we improve our robots and bring on new tactics and new inventions or more nifty innovations it is a challenge for a governing body to keep the rules up to par.
However, some of us would like to see the forest of rules either culled or at least stopped from spreading. It is getting too complicated in some ways and too restrictive in others. Sometimes there is a knee-jerk reaction, sometimes the advance of a much-needed ruling is glacial to say the least. Add to that the various attitudes and frictions between people as humans are wont to develop in time, and you get a fight, or in many cases a gen-oo-ine turf-war. Get money involved and it develops into something even worse, for which I have not yet found a word but would rather not find out.

I like it when the hobby is changing, evolving, and innovating, but I dont ilke it when people are digging in their heels.
We are supposed to frolic like happy Bambis in the woods, not supposed to realize weve grown into huge stags sporting fearsome antlers built for defending our territories with.
