Thread: Dimensions for CAD

  1. #1
    Hi guys,

Im trying the whole CAD the entire machine before you build it approach just to see what its like for building compared to doing it the good old-fashioned way. But I need some dimensions of parts that I have, but that I wont be able to measure for a good couple of weeks.

So if anyone has any dimensions for the following, Id be very grateful:

Cordless drill motors: bog standard ones, for example, the ones from Gimson Robotics (length, diameters of the motor and the two sections of plastic housing at the front would be great)

Motor mounts: Doms mod kit ones/Xbotz ones (just the rough sizes of the length, height and side bits etc - again would be fantastic)

Relays: used in the Electronize 30A relay mod (size of the plastic housing with and without connector tabs)

If anyone can provide me with dimensions of the above Id very much appreciate it

Err, I think thats all I need for the moment; no doubt Ill discover the need for sizes of some other parts I dont have to hand later on, but this should keep me going for now.

    Cheers
    Jamie

  3. Its called Solid Edge, its what we use at university, mainly because theyre able to license copies for £5 per student

EDIT: I was able to find dimensions of drill motors in an old CAD prog that I had but dont really use anymore, so Im sorted for the drill sizes.

I have uploaded my models for Gold motors, astroflights, a 14.4V drill motor and an electronize 15ACPU controller to the following directory:
    http://www.teamturbine.com/cadhttp://www.teamturbine.com/cad

They are .sat files but dont know if they will work as I dont have solid edge. I also have some other models but these are probably some of the most common ones used by people.
