The expression we need to focus on in this discussion is: pinch hazards. Thus, what can move should be restrained lest it hurts someone.
I hear nobody complaining that wheels should not touch any surface, even though they cant spin whithout batteries attached - for they can still spin on their own and are hence unstable. The same applies for weapons.
Im keeping well out of it, as i was involved in the discussion mentioned by stu.
Adrian, From seeing Kan-Opener, you need one.
From seeing Razer, you dont.
Its the event organisers call at the end of the day I guess.
Heavy weights i fully agree....
Feather Weights you could waver but then we all know feathers are just as harmful. Again the can of worms open was certain teams dont, so i shoudn;t have to, which is the wrong attitude i agree. So in future my lifter will have a locking mech, and advise everyone else to... and maybe this is one thing we need to clean up and come down hard on? Thank god there have been no accidents yet, so why should we slack now.
How do u mean from seeing Kan-Opener yes and Razer no? Dont get your line of thinking? Is Razer really that week at crushing? Is it 3.2gs not 3.2tons? LOL
Mr Stu
lol,
no, all imeant was that some teams do, some dont, just as you said.
For the Mold event, Ill not fail a lifter robot in tech check while it is a grey area, but in future I prob would... but dont quote me on that. Hydraulic robots i need to take advice on from the FRA rep for future stuff.
i know every part of my machine and its not needed, but i still strap it anyhow. using common sense eh pal!
