Inside a drill motor

at colchester unfortunatly one of my drill motors stopped working, we replaced with another but ed advised me to take a look and see what the problem was, i took it apart and found a small washer loose inside my question is does the inside of a motr have a washer in it? or could this cause the running trouble?

The chances are that if the washer is small enough to have got into the motor that was why it jammed up. Wether it will run again if reassembled, try it to find out. But the windings didnt look bad at all so it will probably be ok. Make sure that you can turn it freely by hand before powering it up.
