yep, i was looking at those for a heavy before they were ruled out. But with the current ratings on Li-Po packs i think they are becoming safer to use aslong as a low-voltage cut off is in place.
With the minimal weight they take up, alot of padding can be put around them making them very secure and safe.
About time we saw Mute again, only rule change that would effect you, not sure if you know about it....

Total weight is measured without consumables - e.g. fuel up to the 500ml maximum, and gases up to a total of 2kg for heavyweights and .6kg for featherweights.
Further gas bottles and gas are permitted to be installed, but are to be included in the overall maximum weight of the particular weight class.
Why do you need speed controllers, just get a some huge relays, nobody will know the difference if Adams driving! But a HE Roboteq is probably your best bet.
How about the 4QD controllers from technobots (the 300amp ones)? Anyone got any experience?
I have seen 4QD 300s smoke on Perms.
Currently, it seems the only brand of PWM controlers for LEMs are the bigger commercial ones; Like Zevcon or Curtis.
Maybe that the single mosfet leg Albright SW88 changeover relay speedos from the Dutch Docproc can do it. But thats untested on LEMs or perms. Also, these are not small (not Dog Bollocks sized either)

4Kg of gas and weight aint a problem, if were over weight we can ditch a bottle easilly... we used to run with 1Kg of gas ages ago
Who would I speak to/e-mail about trying to get an excepmtion for these cells, or at least some form of permission to test? We are looking to source them direct from the states with a dedicated charger if were allowed.
Mario, the Perms are a different beast to the LEMs altogether.
4QD200s ran the LEMs fine Daniel, I believe they were what was in Storm II when you took it on in New Blood. Never had an issue other than us cracking a PCB as a result of my driving.
They use analog current limiting thus theyre a lot better at clamping current than something PIC based will ever be. Not as big as the 300s either.

Pro-120s will run the LEMs
But the response time is slow enough to make a drink before turning again.

Daniel - the 4QD 150s and 200s dont have the relays that the 120s have that Kane used so give an instant response
Well worth a look IMHO. The ONLY reason we no longer use them is when Mentorn asked us to fit a weapon into the robot, we had to find the space from somewhere !

Good point Ed, I was wondering if they had the laggy relays on them.... Ive just found my old 4QD NCC-70s with the welded relays and melted capacitors... they really dont like LEMs
Ill have to get my measuring tape out, do some head scratching, drink some coffee and see what we can fit. The Roboteq still looks nice though.
Hmmm, ive got a spare pair of 4QD 200s, just need a spare pair of LEMs!
