Thats the PCB carrying the second tier of mosfets, that makes a Scorpion XL into an XXL. This is a homegrown version of the XXL, and is as you can see, squeezed in a box with a pull/push microfan combo.

Short answer: yes
Long answer: It might not be if the motors are not too power hungry but ours definatly are.

Would you recommend some form of filter on the fan to stop debris?

Yes, we put a fine wire mesh in front of our fans.

what kind of flipper are you going for Philip?

I have a Mario ram 70*100mm lying horizontally. The flipper arm pivots 50 mm in front and 100 mm above the ram. The buffer is a 20 oz paintball bottle feeding a Burkert 5404. http://robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1417http://robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1417

Sorry, Craig. I didnt pay enough attention to your name. I am keeping the design for a little while and then changing.

I have taken your suggestions on board. I will try to shorten the existing robot and move the drives forward. The Scorpion would go into the position you recommended.

I am also looking at a complete redesign of the robot roughly into one of the shapes you drew. I went through some of my old drawings and found a design that was very similar.

Imagine a 20 oz bottle across the back and drills directly in front of the bottle. Another 20 oz tank would be directly above the drills as a buffer. The ram would be mounted vertically in front with a simple flipper arm.

I hope to build the second frame and keep the existing robot going until I get the new shape complete.
