What do you think of instead of using the batteries from a drill I could use Nicads. there cheap and my brother uses them aswell so hell know what to do if anything goes wrong!

Drills mainly use Nicads anyway, but usually cheap ones with low capacity and high internal resistance, you would get noticably better performance out of Nicads designed for models, we use http://www.overlander.co.ukhttp://www.overlander.co.uk for most of ours. Their website states clearly how much current you can get out of them. I didnt concider good Nicads cheap though, we need a new set for the Heavyweight but 90 sub C cells arent cheap, overlander has them at £4.50 each.
william, if you are starting out, drill batteries are perfectly adequate to run drill motors for a good 20 minutes or so.
I think people dont give them the credit they require.
If you are using high power motors like golds or astros, you will notice a problem though.

Keep costs to a minumum, get started and then you can make improvements.
Push and Shove, the polycarb 4wd box, which i built for andrew, runs on drill motors, and drill batteries to keep the cost down for him, and does very well.
