oh my that was bad...
To Jonno, ok have to take it to the local tip then.
Craig .....![]()
Ive had a couple of people asking about my robots in the UK champs.
Just to clarify, Edgehog and wheely small cheese will be there, with my team mates, but I dont intend to accompany them. Ill call in if I can, but the baby is due so its cutting it a bit close to be so far from home.
Hope to see you there, but Im afraid the littleone comes first, so I wont know until the day if its safe to make the trip. Any pickups/deliveries can be handles by my team if I cant get there
James,
Wicksteed is notorious for arrivals of new born€™s, its nearly a year ago since I woke at at 3am in the park, and shouted €œ I€™m having a Baby !!!! €œ
Far from home€¦.. try then having to drive home, get on the net, book a flight to Holland, only having Birmingham available, grab a taxi to Birmingham from Nottingham, arrive early only to fall asleep in the departure lounge and nearly miss the flight, to then arrive in Haarlem (Holland) with 30 mins spare before Kirsti went into hospital !!!
I remember it like it was yesterday€¦ what an adventure€¦ I wouldn€™t recommend it !!
John
Yes John, we ALL remember!... You also managed to wake up everyone else present at 3.00AM!... Next time you decide to have a baby at silly oclock... PLEASE DO IT QUIETLY!!
i had jus got up to drain the sea monster saw jonno running out to the van and he shouted at me, Im having a baby, good jonno, im havin a wizz speak to u later lol.
though all of this sounds like fantastic fun, I think Ill pass on the mad dash if its all the same.
This is for 2 reasons.
1: I would never forgive myself if i missed the birth.
2:Rach would kill me in a variety of very painful ways if I missed the birth.
Hopefully, Rach will get it out of the way early (prob at our friends wedding on the 12th?), and I can come along to the UK champs and help my team dish out some pain (or at least help them sweep our robot into a binbag?)
Guys. Got several questions....
First of all. Wickstead park website gives a rather large calender and agenda. even a carboot sale is advertised... Why not something fun as Roaming robots with the British open?
its not to be a partypooper, as we arranged the ferry already, but the past has learned to be carefull about this championship.
Second, what are the camping facilities. Water, electricity and about something that interests me particular, Food.
Mario,
Answers to your questions....
Yes the event hasnt been on the Wicksteed park website yet, as there has been some problems behind the scenes exchanging information and so forth... with every event, things don€™t always go smoothly, and problems arise.
This event has twice before been attempted, and twice before been cancelled, however you will know that I have a reputation of NOT cancelling an event at the last minute and leaving people in the lurch, I would rather loose money than cancel an event, and would do every time.
Specific camping information would have come out next Friday and still will, however....
We are using the campsite field within the park, it already has mains running water, and I am installing showers at my own expense.
We will also have the key to the nearby toilet block over night.
Power,
Electricity will be via the generator which will be providing electricity for the whole event and will be brought up to the camping field from the arena at night.
It will however be being switched off at a predetermined time at night so that people can have a good nights sleep.
Food,
We will have 24 hour access on and off the park via security, obviously there will be lots of bbqs, local supermarkets, shops, pubs, restaurants etc.., we will have all of the local information available, and Wicksteed have food available throughout the day, and evening until the park closes.
Any more questions, or uncertainties just shout out, and ill put you straight.
John
