Two Japan races is better than one, and the figure of eight suzuka is a great circuit.

Qualifying is in from Malaysia & we have some confusion. 5 drivers (Michael Schumacher, Ralf Schumacher, David Coulthard, Rubens Barrichello & Felipe Massa) have all had engine changes, earning either starting from the back of the grid or 10 places back from where they qualified. As a result of this confusion, I will run you through the top 10 qualifiers.
Top 10 Grid, Sepang, Malaysia tommorrow
1: Fisichella
2: Button
3: Rosberg
4: Webber
5: Montoya
6: Raikkonen
7: Alonso
8: Klien
9: Trulli
10: Villeneuve
This engine-change penalty has made the rest of this grid confusing . I think an alternative punishment for an engine change should a 1 row grid penalty, e.g. Qualfy on pole + engine change = P3 on the grid. Also what do you think the alternative punishment for an engine change should be?
(I hope my squad at FF1.co.uk can make up for the 35 points not recieved last week)
i think a time penalty to be added at the end of the race might be better. Could be 15, 20 or 30 seconds.
It certainly a rule that needs to be changed.
Sepang saw another thriller of race, after qualifying positions were sorted (The FIA should change the punishment for an engine change). Anyway here are the results from Malaysia.
Sepang Top 8
1: Fisichella (Fantastic drive, hardly put a foot wrong but the question has to be asked, can the unlucky Italian maintain this momentum?)
2: Alonso (2nd place marks Renault€™s 2nd 1-2 finish and 1st one since 1982)
3: Button (Lost out on 2nd thanks to Scott Speed and race pace that was slower then Renault)
4: Montoya (Another steady finish, though he is the sole McLaren to score)
5: Massa (Stuns a few by beating his team-mate to the flag first)
6: M. Schumacher (Works well up to 6th but those Ferrari wing issues are the next big arguments waiting to happen after the Toro Rosso V10s)
7: Villeneuve (Clinches BMW€™s 1st points as a constructor and sole scorer for the team after Heidfeld€™s fiery exit from 5th)
8: R. Schumacher (Lucks into final point but the Toyota/Bridgestone package needs more heat to really work wonders)
Retirements
15: Heidfeld (BMW engine failure ruins 5th place finish)
16: Speed (Unknown)
17: Ide (Hydraulic or engine failure)
18: Klien (Contact on 1st lap with Raikkonen, rejoins but hydraulics failure ends Klien€™s race)
19: Webber (Hydraulics failure doubles William€™s disappointment)
20: Coulthard (Gearbox stuck in 6th gear)
21: Rosberg (Engine failure, maybe something to do with pushing hard in Bahrain perhaps?)
22: Raikkonen (Suspension damage from contact with Klien. Does this hint to another struggling title challenge yet again?)
Driver€™s Championship (Round 2/1

2=: Button & M.Schumacher (11)
4: Fisichella (10)
5: Montoya (9)
6: Raikkonen (6)
7: Massa (4)
8: Webber (3)

New rules in Formula 1 for 2008 were discussed yesterday and the ideas suggested were:
1: A 3-year freeze on engine development
2: A single tyre supplier
3: A mandatory test limit of 30,000km per team per year
4: A ban on spare cars
5: Gearboxes to last 4 grand prixs
6: Return to slick tyres
7: Tyre-warming blankets banned
8: A new engine change penalty (15kg weight)
These are the main rule changes that could be the future. About time they decided on changing the penalty for engine changes. What are your thoughts on these rule changes from 2008?
