Hi everyone, Are there any plans for barbecues, etc over the weekend (Friday and Sat night) at the campsite cause were wondering what we need to bring.
If anyone is planning a barbecue please let me know if you need us to bring food, etc.
Cheers,
Dave
thats right woody cheers![]()
Hiya Dave - im sure jonno is very busy loading the truck today so ill try and answer..
Last year loads of people had BBQs and everyone just brought their food/burgers/beers and one disposable BBQ and everyone seemed to just merge together anyway and share BBQs and so on. Bring enough food for your self in terms of burgers, babs etc, but everyone normal just bundles it all together - but dont quote me on that.
There is a big massive open air Marquee which cooks great breakfasts and evening meals and theres a bar and all sorts.
So if you dont fancy cooking or anything, have your breakfast and dinner at this big marque which is very nice and not alot of money either, or have a mixture which i think the Roaming Robots crew is going to do. As were there as of tonight, we dont want a BBQ on Thursday Night, Friday Night, Saturday Night, so we may mix about and for once - let others cook our food for us at the big marque. Hehe!![]()
Kenny - i cant answer that question and to be honest not sure if Jonno would be able to answer that question until he gets there or whatever as it is an air show. Though i would have thought the airshow stuff is more technical and secure which means you should be able to use it. Though i do know Kan-Opener can use his 2.4ghz thingy last year, so you might be ok. Oh sorry Kan-Opener uses 459mhz, thanks Kane. Maybe bring spare 40mhz just in case?
Mr Stu
Coming on sunday to see the airshow, will drop in to see you sometime.![]()
Just a bit of a safety notice to all roboteers this weekend€¦
Two main things which roboteers need to keep an eye on over the weekend due to the heat which is expected to be one of the hottest times of the year the weather man is saying€¦ are NiCad€™s and Co2 bottles.
Keep an eye on your Nicad Batteries, try not to charge them when hot, and keep them out of the sun as they will get warm/hot. If you have any fans, bring them. Fast charging, then using, then fast charging, then using etc etc in the heat will keep them warm and the worst may happen which has happened before, they over heat and once the chain reaction has started, there is nothing you can do while you watch your £150 + batteries go up in smoke.
Co2 roboteers - as you know some peoples Co2 bottles sometimes the burst disc blows as the pressure has gotten too great, this maybe due to over filling in the past, but during hot days, even filling them correctly, the heat may make the pressure rise and blow the burst discs. It has happened before in outdoor events in the sun. So try and keep your bottles out of direct sun light - bring some spare burst discs if you have any just in case the worst happens and it blows€¦. Also may even advise UNDER FILLING your 2kg bottles a bit by about 200g maybe?
See you all soon at the show - stay safe.

Just to add, having the burst disc fail on your bottle indicates that the pressure has exceeded 190bar... Without the burst disc, the bottle would explode.
When filling cold bottles DO NOT zero the scales with an apparently empty bottle, it may contain dry ice which can affect the filled weight.
You should know your bottles empty weight which you can use to determine the full weight (This should also be stamped on the bottle). DO NOT fill above the full weight.
As Stu has suggested, on a hot day underfill your bottles and dont leave them in the sun.
unfortunatly, due to exactly the same reason as Waddington, we have to withdraw.
Edgehog is stuck in my team mates garage, and due to possibly the laziest builder in the world, we still cannot get him out because there is no front to the building.
Rather than just bring a feather, we thought it fairer to pull out completely and leave a space for another heavy, if anyone is on the waiting list and can get everything organized. We left this decision as late as we could in the hope the builder came today, but he didnt show, again, so I appologise to Roaming robots, but there really is nothing I can do.
Cheers, and see you all at the next one.
Looking forward to the weekends show - machine is nearing completion:
