FLAMING HELL Vs GEFORCE EVO 3.0 Vs INSECTICIDE Vs TENGU VII (5)
FROM CARTERTON, IN OXFORDSHIRE, FLAMING HELL!
(represented by David Weston)
Forged from the fires of the Naughty Place itself, Flaming Hell ascends to Earth to try and burn the hopes of all our other contestants. Modelled very much on former Battlebots champion Son of Whyachi, this newcomer is a simple circle with a horrible triangular spinning cage with a bot opener attached to each arm. Powered by a LEMCO at 36v, the weapon can easily reach speeds of 3000rpm, enough to give Beelzebot himself the heebie-jeebies! Better yet, small shockproofed electric actuators on the rotor arms allow for a clean and easy self-righting mechanism, a problem for many a robot like this. Along with this, Daves creation is a real devil to get hold of with excellent manouverability and speeds of up to 15mph...but despite being far apart to increase stability, the four wheelbarrow wheels provide little in the way of decent traction and if anyone of the tougher machines gets past the cage, they could easily feast on the 3mm titanium shell of the main body. Will Flaming Hells plans for conquest go up in smoke?![]()

FROM BOURNE, IN LINCOLNSHIRE, GEFORCE EVO 3.0!
(represented by Andy Jackson)
Formerly a resident of Aaron Knights imaginary garage, GeForce was nic...erm...given to Andy for the right price and has since become a solid member of the AJRobotics squadren. Now in its second year of PTT combat, this Spawn Again lookalike still sports its nasty rear-hinged Nitrogen flipper. It can last for over 20 flips and at 1000psi, it can easily throw up to a tonne and a half at the tip! However, the veteran has returned with a few little upgrades - the machine has moved from two Vulcalon-coated wheels to four, the armour is now 3.25mm monocoque Hardox and the flipper now sports a wee titanium strip. Hey, every little helps.Along with this, the twin LEM-130s make it an excellent pusher and the 15mph top speeds are a definate plus. Unfortunately, though, the 10mm ground clearance will leave it open to other tossing devices and if that weapon runs out of gas, GeForce Evo 4.0 may not be too far ahead.

IN PTT4 (as GeForce): dumped in the Pit by Battle Raptor 3 in Round 2
FROM LARGS, IN AYRSHIRE, INSECTICIDE!
(represented by Scott Anderson)
Back to bug us even more, Insecticide is here to poison anyone elses hopes of title victory. Completely unchanged since the last time, Scotts spinner is as unusual as ever - a circular machine with a pod on either side containing a drive wheel each and a 16kg horizontal disc at the front. Mounted ala Disc-O Inferno, the flywheel is powered by a Briggs and Stratton Etek motor at 36v and can reach speeds of 1500rpm. Not dangerous enough, you say? Well, the spinner is barely 4cm off the ground, so dont say that to Scotty without decent skirting . Not only that, but our old friend is more annoying than a bluebottle with its excellent manouverability and its invertible body will give the flippers a hard time. However, a maximum ground clearance of 10mm will still leave it vulnerable to that crowd and with a 5mm titanium shell, quite a few of the tougher competitors could prove deadlier to Insecticide than a visit from the exterminator.![]()

FROM GEDDINGTON, IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, AND SEEDED NO.5, TENGU VII!
(represented by Alex Holt)
Though it had a decent battle record behind it beforehand, it was PTT3 that helped propel the Tengu series to superstardom. Now as a former silver medallist, former Semi-Finalist and owner of many a trophy, the mythical swordsman is back for another stab at the title. For this latest incarnation, its more of the same in terms of the big stuff - a low spinning cylinder on wheels with interchangeable claws. This is powered by a 4 MagMotor at a gear ratio of 6:1, allowing for ludicrous speeds and up to 70/80kJ of energy given per blow! Not only that, but now accompanying the toughened circular skirting is a unique anti-spinner ring, separately mounted between the whirling blades. This dissipates the energy or whatnot, check his site for more.Along with this, the mixture of titanium and polypropylene armour will prove a real challenge for our more destructive challengers and the srimech arm atop is fast than most other FBSs. However, the combination of 18mph top speeds and the spinners own forces will lead to a few control mishaps and with little traction on the four wheels, can Tengu prove mightier than the sword again?

After such a long wait for this duel to start, Flaming Hell and Tengu begin spinning up; partly for killing n such and partly for shaking off the cobwebs coating them . While these two quickly rev to their deadly limits, GeForce and Insecticide meet in the arena centre! With its highly effective sloping shape, Andys machine easily slips under its rival and fires! The Scottish veteran is sent at least 7ft into the air before clattering back down, made all the worse by a nasty collision with a whirling Flaming Hell! Its own disc now starting to revolve menacingly, Insecticide spins round and tries to whack it with the flywheel! Unfortunately, the newbie has already darted away, but on the plus side, Scotty has managed to hit the side of GeForce in the process! Andy quickly administers a second flip on the fellow PTT4 competitor, but as Mr Anderson prepares to retaliate, Tengu shoots over with a sinister hum and smashes into the side of the circular Scotbot! With a bang, the duo bounce off each other, Insecticide definately the worse off with a nasty scar along the titanium shell! However, the unusual-looking machine remains persistant and just manages to clip GeForce with the disc again before darting aside! Thankfully, Andys entrant suffers little more than a scuffing of its painjobt and while Flaming Hell and Tengu get unvolved in an unusual little polka, the former Aaron creation powers back under Insecticide with relative ease! Quickly, Scott tries to drive off the sloped front, but by the time he starts waggling those control sticks, GeForce charges to the nearest fence and chucks the fellow PTT4 veteran over the edge in a burst of nitrogen!
Insecticide gets swatted! Looks like Scotty got bugged once too often!![]()
Meanwhile, the battle of the spinners is raging ever onward. Thus far, neither robot has managed to get a good blow on the other and caused many yawns amoungst the more impatient members of the audience. However, a little burst of speed from Tengu at last results in a collision and both machines end up bouncing away from each other! It must be said that our 5th seed is holding up the better right now, as its shell is slowed but still active. Flaming Hells cage is now at a complete stop and just as it starts going again, Alex dashes back in and clobbers the newbie a second time! It would appear that the PTT veterans blades are beginning to chop away into one or two of the cage arms and that cant be helping for performance...neither can a sudden attack from GeForce at that!Charging across the Warzone, the PTT4 competitor scrapes its new strip underneath Flaming Hell and throws the Zorro-esque machine onto its side after a nasty 8ft flight upward! However, just as Andy is about to initiate another flip, Tengu dashes onto the scene and slams its spinning self into the fellow veterans side! Mr Jackson has just regained control of the pawned predator when our former Finalist rockets back in for a second blow! And a third! And a fourth! GeForce is being pinged around like a marble and barely getting a millisecond to line up a decent flip! By this time too, one of Flaming Hells little srimech arms has kicked into play and finally rerighted the newcomer! Just as Tengu gets in a fifth side attack on GeForce, Dave Ws creation shoots over to join in the fun, this time scarring the flippers other side! Andy is definately not having a good time here, with both spinners ganging up on him as it were! First, Tengu; then, Flaming Hell! Then, Tengu; then, Flaming Hell! Then...Flaming Hell again. Tengu needed more revving that time
. But at any rate, things look bad for Andys entrant - the Spawn Again lookalike might be only suffering from scars rather than slashes, but the innards have been joogled about to no end and resulted in highly sluggish controls! Finally, our 5th seed comes back for one more blow...and GeForce comes to a complete halt! Though it stood up well to the physical damage, the internals just couldnt take the energy from all those blows and as Tengu chases its fellow spinner around the arena, the Grim Beeper comes over to end Mr Js misery...

NATURAL SELECTION Vs P.C.C. (2Vs THE ULTIMATE WEDGE Vs WIND CHILLER
FROM BIRMINGHAM, NATURAL SELECTION!
(represented by Chris Cooper)
Making its first appearance here in the PTT, Natural Selection is hoping to end up top of the food chain and you know, that looks entirely possible. Boxy in appearance with a scooped front and rounded rear, the main weapon is somewhat akin to Anthrax/Draven - a hydraulic lifting arm with a set of vertical pincers, allowing it to clamp hold of other competitors before lifting them up into the air. And with 400kg of grip behind those jaws, you do not want to end up inside em. Along with this, Chris creation is fitted with side-skirts to annoy the flippers amoungst us and decent speeds of 15mph from its twin Bosch motors given its four wheels a fair bit of torque. However, the 4mm titanium may prove vulnerable against the more damaging competitors and the arm is very slow when in operation. Will Natural Selection quickly be picked off by our polycarb predators?![]()

FROM TIDWORTH, IN HAMPSHIRE, AND SEEDED NO.28, P.C.C.!
(represented by David Sheppard)
Or to give its full name, the Predetermined Confrontation Contraption. Phew. After a reasonably successful campaign last year, this fourth incarnation of the S.E.G. series returns with more interchangeable goodness than the next leading brand. Still a low box with side roll-bars and rear spikes, a whole host of nasty weaponry can be stuck on the front - everything from flippers and discs to scoops and spears. Add to that the nifty new skirts, the nasty pushing power and the 6mm monocoque steel shell and youre looking at the pinacle of superbotness! Along with this too, the invertible frame will be the flippers nightmare, while general speeds of 18mph will make it dashed tricky to keep track of. But despite this, only the rear two of its four wheels will work inverted and with such high speeds, control might end up a bit questionable. Is it a matter of time before P.C.C. ends up D.O.A.?

FROM KILKIVAN, IN AUSTRALIA, THE ULTIMATE WEDGE!
(represented by Aaron Knight)
Probably most famous for driving through the arena wall last time around, the Ultimate Wedge powers back in the ring to justify its name a second time. Still an invertible Voltronic-style wedge as before, the biggest change here is in the weapons department. While before it featured twin flywheels, now its equipped with a high-pressure top-hinged flipper. Powered by an 80mm bore ram with nearly 2.2 litres of CO2 pumped into it, the new launcher can produce well over 500kg of force and sits on top of the armour to expose no innards when it opens. Crafty mutt.. Sticking with the Ultimate tag, Aarons annihilator also features 4mm Hardox 500 armour and the pushing power given to the six wheels by its two LEMCO-200 motors are virtually unsurpassable. But despite the strong armouring, the wheels are still exposed to overhead attacks and with speeds of up to an gobsmacking 35mph, the Ultimate Wedge has every chance of creating the ultimate crash scene.![]()

FROM OTTOWA, IN CANADA, WIND CHILLER!
(represented by Matty McDonald)
...is it me or did it just get colder in here?Yes, Mattys homage to Firestorm has returned and hoping to have a better time than it did last season. Just like before, its a simple wedge with a forward-hinged flipping panel, but simplicity has been known to pay off. Running at 500psi, the arm will happily tip over a fellow competitor with no problems and the titanium strip will make getting under most other machines a doddle. Along with this, top speeds of 16mph and excellent manoueverability make this lookalike a very slippery customer and while rarely used much anymore, the 7mm aluminium casing should provide some adequate protection. Unfortunately, though, the twin S28-400s provide little traction to the two wheels and with such tricky control provided by them speeds, Wind Chiller may end up being blown itself away.

Easily the quickest of our latest bunch, the Ultimate Wedge rockets across the arena and meets Natural Selection head-on! With a horrible clatter, the newcomer is sent bouncing backwards and thankfully recovers in time to avoid another ram by Aarons annihilator! In the meantime, P.C.C. and Wind Chiller are now in action and encircling each other, almost cat-like. But it isnt long at all before Matty lets the claws fly and charges into the No.28 seeds side! Unfortunately, the wedge n strip barely have time to penetrate the skirts when Daves interchangeable box is off again and twirls around into the side of the Firestorm lookalike! Barely scraping the spatula beneath its rivals own skirts, Mr Sheppard fires the pie-tosser...but isnt far enough underneath and so merely flicks Wind Chiller up before it bangs back onto the ground! However, P.C.C. fails to get another attack in before Natural Selection arrives and gives our 28th seed a nasty bash in the rear! As Dave tries to turn and exact revenge, he, Chris and Matty notice something rather bad indeed - the Ultimate Wedge has just gone and opened the Void! With the siren now deafening the audience once more, Aarons creation thunders down towards the melee and smashes into the three terrors like a bowling ball would with skittles! The quartet separates and its (unsurprisingly) Mr Knights monster who recovers first! Charging across the ring, the first thing it bumps into is P.C.C. - and with a stupid amount of force behind it, the Wedge easily slips under the skirts and inverts the No.28 seed with the greatest of ease! The PTT4 Heat Finalist is only on two wheels now, but its not the only one with problems! Right now, Wind Chiller has just outmanouevered Natural Selection and very nearly flicked it over with the forward-hinged flipper! However, the newbie remains upright and exacts a little revenge by just sneaking around to the Firestormy competitors side and slipping the front claw under its skirt! Before Matty can try and escape, Chris easily outpushes the more experienced machine and rams it into the wall! Torturously, the pincer grabs hold of the skirt itself and the main hydraulic arm begins to rise! Slowly and painfully, Wind Chiller is hoisted into the air by that single strip of aluminium! Natural Selection carefully carries its opponent across the ring...but barely makes it two metres before P.C.C. storms over and crashes into it! Chris grip is lost and Wind Chiller lands back on its wheels! However, the veteran barely has a moment to move when the Ultimate Wedge comes over! Aaron was actually trying to catch up with Dave and the 28th seed, but not any more! Scraping back under the other skirt, the Australian rammer heads full throttle down the arena! Matty desperately attempts to get away, but before he knows it, Wind Chiller has been dumped into the Void in a cloud of smoke! The Ultimate Wedge starts backing away from the holes powerful sucking...but suddenly Natural Selection arrives from behind and shunts the PTT4 competitor into the darkness below as well with a surprise shove! Extremely pleased with this result, Chris waves to the cheering crowd...just as P.C.C. also comes from behind and pushes it down the Void as well! Always have to have the last laught, dont you, Davey Boy?![]()
