Thread: Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5

and here is my final heavyweight, Lightweight and Super Heavyweight wil be entered by Dave (W)

    Name - Axe to Fall
    Weight - 100 Kilogram
    Speed - 24 km/h (15 mph)
    Dimensions - 115x80x40 cm
Ground Clearance - 0 at the front, 2 mm anywhere else
    Power - 2x LEM130s at 48v
Movement - Four wheels, 10cm diameter
Weaponry - The main weapon is a 5 kg double-headed axe on top of the machine, it€™s a steel 80 cm shaft with two diamond edged blades made of hardox on the end of it. The blade which aims to the front of the machine is shaped like Steel Avengers axe, to make fine and deep slices in opposing armor, the other one is shaped more like Terrorhurtz€™ in order to make more nasty broad slices in opposing armor.
The whole axe is powered by 2 nitrogen bottles at 1000 psi, a 1 kg buffer bottle and a 30 mm bore ram, for fast and furious hits, with a downforce of 1.5 ton brought onto a fine blade, and an energy unleash which seems significantly higher than for example Beta€™s if my calculations are right.
-At the front of Axe to Fall is a small wedge/ram made out of 8 mm Titanium, to lift my opponent€™s wheels into air while clobbering them with my Steel Avenger-style blade, or perhaps even to grab him. This ram is also my plan B if my axe fails in battle, just ram them hard .
Armour - 10 mm Aluminium chassis, 8 mm Titanium front and 15 mm polycarb for the rest of the bot.
There are also two small blocks of vulcanized rubber on the mid-front and the mid-back of my machine, to absorb the downforce where the axe hits the chassis.
Shape - Basically it€™s a 80x80x20 box, with a curve on top of it (making it look like an old pirates-style treasure chest actually). There are two small polycarb domes on both sides so my bot won€™t end up on it€™s side. On front is a small wedge.
Srimech- The axe acts as a srimech, thanks to the curved shape of the top my bot can self right in no time, even if it has to self right over the wedged front (the wedge is very small mind you).

Power: Very destructive axe that will both hit at the front and the back, fast srimech and an nearly indestructible front
Weakness: A powerful spinner might eat my polycarb, not the fastest bot on the block.

btw, if anyone wants to see renders of my bots, feel free to ask, I have them stored on my pc atm and Im pretty sure theyll make my descriptions alot more understandable

I have designed a new robot to enter PTT5. This robot will take over from Sonic Boom.

    Name: Quake
    Weight: 100kg
    Armour: 4mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy
    Speed: 18mph
Shape: Low invertible box with a set of pincers on the front, a lot like Big Nipper.
Weapon 1: A cam powered shaker, designed to shake the electronics of the opponents loose. The shaker can also lift robots into the air.
Strengths: Unique weaponry. Good manoeuvrability and pushing power.
Weaknesses: Not sure on effectiveness of weaponry. High ground clearance all over.
    Ground Clearance: 7mm all over
    Srimech: Invertible
Notes: The robot is powered by 2 S28-400 MagMotors running at 24v, which gives 18mph top speed. The two front wheels are joined to the two back wheels by a heavy duty rubber belt, giving good manoeuvrability and pushing power. The armouring is 4mm Ti/V alloy panelling, which a 12mm thick Aluminium box chassis. The pincers on the front of the robot are powered by low pressure hydraulics, and are designed to clamp a robot, and not specifically damage them. The damage comes from the cam powered shaker, from which the design has been taken from the Model 4800 Tree Shaker, seen in an episode of Mean Machines. The way this causes damage is by using the cam to send the pincers shaking side to side very VERY quickly, a very short distance (only 1 inch each way). The momentum generated and the force of the shaking should cause some electronics or the removable link in a competitor to fall out or loosen. Also, the fact we can lift a robot in the air means we can carry them anywhere in the arena, whilst shaking them.

Any queries about this design, dont be afraid to ask me on MSN or here in the forum.

Thats a cool design, a robot that picks up another and throttles it

    *starts to cry*

When did we all become so mean?! Whys this tourney such a jinx before it even begins?!

*sniff* Oh, and stats still needed from Aaron K, Tom R, Matty F, Frank G (SHW), Alex H and Dave W (SHW). I go on holiday a week on Monday, so PLEASE get going, lads.

Just in for a quick moment after Steven caught me on MSN.

Quake is possble. But it is one of those designs where making it possible makes lower grade. Its like the robot Alcoholic Stepfather (Omni bot version). They spent soo much weight into making the omni drive survive combat and have an awesome manuverability that it has minimal weight for armour.

If anyone has seen it at the last major US event, AS was retired by spinner Mega Byte with minimal effort. I would place Quake in the same catagory.

I do agree with AJ about people saying they have something but dont explain about it. Example: 1 tonne crusher.... Is it Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electric? What weight is spent into this? Its just so open, the writer can assume anything that is right or wrong.

Dave is right, Aussies got there asses kick in Cricket... Dont know what they were doing, but it just wasnt cricket. I also agree with the mega HP pushers. But I believe instead of making them go faster, make them go slower. Torque and traction will help acceleration, which is what a lot of our vapourbots are missing when they are geared for 20+MPH.

Damn this is becoming a rant  Anyway. Lets just help Stevo get this show on the road.
