Na you wont Paul - coz your with me on this one, im not on the other side to get you wound up Hehe.

But this really is a sticky one.
IF the FRA rules state Have power light on robot which is visable then people are going to have flashing leds, neon lights, mutlicolours, ask questions what type, ask question how big etc, so thats why the FRA has been more accurate of a type of LED to use, these LED surface mounted ones, like the yellow one on Technbots. Its just going to be an on going thing to talk aobut this. lol

Anyway - back to IBCs - they have a small Yellow LED fitted to them, will it be ok if we mount it inside our robots and you can cleary see it through the polycarb pannel - will that be ok for a power light?

Our 4 IBCs have super bright blue LEDs Can use them as torches in the dark.

Brett changed the LED color in the second version of the IBC since he got sick of being blinded when working on IBC with power in them

Yeah very true. So as Geoff said, maybe the wording of the rules or somethnig needs to be looked at then.

The LED Thread is too big so Ill post here . On Blue we had a blue power light on a blue painted robot and no one complained. Although we did change it to red every now and then due to wiring up the wrong LED.

On the new version it is Surface Mounted in the only bit of Aluminium chassis, there is 4.5mm of white polypro (not transparent) above it. When the light is on you can see it clearly as about 3cm sq of the polypro turns red. Much more visible than just a single 5mm LED would be.

I also dont remember anyone complaining about Mighty Mouse and the other one I cant spell where there is a massive white halogen (I think) light inside his robots that light up through all the gaps in the armour, also very visible.

At the end of the day its the tech checker and event organiser who will say if its expectable or not, For minor rule discrepancies Ive seen tech checkers say they will allow it to run this time but they must alter it for next time, so even if you do turn up with a new robot with a power light not surface mounted then the worst that should happen is you are told to change it for next time.

For a picture of the new Blue, now renamed Litter Hitter because its not painted blue, see my profile. It€™s now CO2 instead of a compressor and has a bigger ram with twice the size buffer tanks and an axe head twice the weight of the original. On the picture the LED is located next to the lower left bolt on the top surface but is not visible as it€™s on the kitchen floor and has the link removed.
