I think youll find Johns idea would be far more realistic for various reasons. The roboteering community in England is quite large and England does have a kind of international side to it (being an island) compared to other more isolated European countries. This is not political obviosly, but just situational.
If a qualifying round was held in the Amsterdam Rai Centre then it would possibly be much more acessable to other European countries compared to England and would therefore be a good place to host a qualifying round for the European roboteers for a larger world championship to be held in England alongside the airshows. Realistically you are not going to get too many people coming over for an event out of England, England does have, by far, the biggest roboteer community (excluding America) so European Championship status really needs more to it than an event with possibly limited robot numbers.
I would love to hop over to Europe for an event but chances are I wouldnt be able to due to my own travel problems etc, so expecting an event over there on the scale of a European championships may be abit too much.
I hope this isnt offending or anything but its just another opinion.
