I am currently Upgrading my robot (some say i should replace the whole thing but how and ever.)

I need to put on a new base plate to replace the 12mm plywood one i have at the miniute.

I have done a few calcs and for roughly the same weight i can have:
    6mm Polycarbonate
    6mm Polyporplene
    3mm 7075 T6 Aluminium
    1mm Stainless Steel
    1.6mm Grade 5 Titanium

What would people recomend to use? All coments about this are appreciated.

    Regards
    Ian

  3. i would say polypro (or HDPE). If your doing another flipper then it will give abit, polycarb will just crack past a certain point. Normally ali would probably be best but 3mm isnt thick enough.

You could do what Rob said quite easily (if boringly) with a pillar drill equipped with an end-stop.

Personally, Id use polyprop. Polycarbs ok if you use it right, if you dont, you may as well be using acrylic.
