Raptors in the GRA are restricted in size of motor, the max size is equal to a mabuchi 755, and max voltage is 12V. No Neodimium or kobalt motors, and no adjustable brushes from anything higher than 540 motors.
The robot is not allowed Ti or other expensive materials.
Hi,
it is like leo told: the GRA-raptor-rules are restrictive only on motors (biggest motor are the Mabuchi 750 ore equal to this motor) and the max. voltage to power weapon and drivetrain is 12V. Higher Voltage only to power valves. But no restrictions to expensive materials like Ti, you can youse everything. You can find the rules here:

Hi,
Here´s some pictures of my old and now retired hobbyweight:
http://www.robosota.fi/foorumi/viewtopic.php?t=848http://www.robosota.fi/foorumi/viewtopic.php?t=848
Weapon: Lifter driven by 550rpm/12V drill
Drive: 12V drillmotors with 24:1 gearboxes and 3 Colsons
Armor: 4 and 8mm polycarb and 1mm steel and 4mm alu
Bot weighted just 5 kilos so I used some steel offcuts to bring weight up to ~6 kilos.
Also started to build new hobbyweight few days ago. First pictures can be found here: http://www.robosota.fi/foorumi/viewtopic.php?t=1039http://www.robosota.fi/foorumi/viewtopic.php?t=1039
Four wheel drive with active weapon driven by 9,6V Panasonic drill.. And yeah, I know, 3/8 chain is way overkill for hobby. Weight will be very close to 6 kilos when ready..
Oh, and there´s also pic of my new 450g drumbot in profile.
Nice work! How does the arm on the older machine retract? Does it just fall back down when the drill winds back?
There was just some elastic bands to pull lifter down. Not very good solution as they snapped in every fight..
Also it´s not very clear in the pictures, but lifters gearing was variable between 13:1 and 10,8:1 (not including drill gearbox).
nice... dont suppose your robot can make it to my event in april? we have several raptors competing
All three of those machines look impressive Juha, Keep up the good work!
Ewan, here it is.

Cheers Leo, but I was implying a wholly different section - this topic is still within the Featherweights thread divider.
