For Phoenix Down, I will use my radio telecommunications equipment to induce the rotors in the motors in my machine to carry a current (through the handy set of MOSFET electronics known as a speed controller) and therefore cause some movement in the motors which will cause first the motor gearboxes and then the chain transmission to move in synchronisation, providing motive power to the large titanium and rubber chain/belt motive units known in laymans terms as the tracks, which, via the signal from my radio telecommunications device, can be altered so as to control this motive power, which is then, through friction with the ground and Newtonian physics, will move the entire machine in the direction specified by my telecommunications device. (most of the time :P)

This ability is vital to the second stage of my plan, which is to control the motive power in such a way as to move towards other robots in an indiscriminate and neutral manner, utilising more Newtonian physics and an amount of tactical thinking, to align my robots course with these others in such a way that they collide, in a technique known in the trade as ramming. Using more tactical thought, I shall control the frequency and direction of this ramming in order to maneuver the other robots into any arena hazards, in order for the optimum amount of returns from my attacks in the form of damage or immobilisation This tactic will be repeated as is necessary, taking care not to allow my robots motive power to cause it to become entangled in the arena hazards itself.

For No Exceptions...spin and lift things.

After 3 year hiatus, its back!

FRA Royal Robot Rumble: 26 Enter, 1 leaves

The announcer voice booms out over the PA system, announcing the entrance of the first 2 gladiators of this mass brawl:

    From Suffolk...Spring-Bok!

As the Firestorm-esque robot of Chris Mason rolls out into the spotlight, the roar comes out from the crowd to welcome it to the arena, minus its trademark orange fur, much to the disappointment of the pyro-maniacs in the crowd.

FROM TORONO, IN CANADA€¦ MACDUFF THE THIRD!

Out of the bullpen shoots the blue and silver, spike fronted Macduff the 3rd to the cheer of the crowd and a big banner stating; €˜Duff €˜em Up!!€™.

    ROBOTEERS, STAND BY€¦

Both drivers look nervous as the biggest fight of their careers is about to get underway€¦
    3€¦.
    2€¦
    1€¦
    ACTIVATE!

The Refbot flashes up the green light and MacDuff the 3rd is first off the marks and grazing down the side of Spring-bok, who turns to engage the Team Zlayerz machine but finds nothing as Macduff the 3rd has skidded around the back of him and levers Sping-bok up off the floor with the front lifting spikes and leaving Chris spinning his wheels in mid-air whilst Macduff ploughs forward, slamming Spring-bok into the wall face first, levering the machine up towards the wall but not tipping it over.

MacDuff backs off and lines up for another assault but Sprink-bok, like its name sake, it too quick on its feet and gets away from the wall and turns to face Macduff, and zips forward and engages Macduff head on, levering Macduff up on its own raised spikes and raising Kody€™s tracked machine off the floor, allowing Spring-bok to get under the chassis and carry him towards the wall.

With a resounding BOING! of the springs, MacDuff is thrown to the wall but simply bangs into it, narrowly avoiding the flame pit as it does so! MacDuff manoeuvres away from the floor furnace and sets off in Spring-Bok€™s direction in the center of the arena, where too is sat the Refbot, ticking down the time remaining until the next entrant.

Spring-Bok high - tails it away from the advancing Macduff and turns towards the pit button, but is beaten to the button by Macduff, glancing past Spring-Bok and impaling the pit release button. As the siren wails out to signify the pits release, a blaring klaxon sounds above it to signify the Refbot€™s timer has hit zero€¦

From Enschede in the Netherlands€¦ Flick of The Wrist!

The red six wheeled dutch machine enters through the central doors to a big cheer from the crowd, and immediately heads to business, powering towards Spring-Bok and MacDuff down at the bottom end of the arena, and annoces his presence with an arena shaking slam into the back of MacDuff, getting underneath the high clearance of the Canadian entrant and pulling it away from the wall, taking with it the pit button, still trailing off the deadly prongs of MacDuff the 3rd.

FOTW turns to face the pit and starts to slowly edge MacDuff towards it with the tracks spinning frantically in mid-air trying to gain some traction, but the push is well and truly stopped by the well aimed charge of Spring-Bok, knocking both robots away from each other. FOTW is the quicker to recover and turns its attentions to Spring- Bok, motoring away from the 2 spiked machines.

Spring-bok maneuvers past Refbot and goes to turn away from the CPZ but is caught full on by a rampaging FOTW, and is spiked up and slammed into the mercifully unoccupied CPZ. FOTW pulls away to take another charge and Spring-bok turns to face the oncoming onslaught, and quite to Chris€™ surprise, the onslaught falters as the front lifting spikes ride up the wedge of Spring-bok! Spring-bok kicks into drive and pushes the Dutch ram-bot out of the CPZ, but got a mere few meters before MacDuff the 3rd, from seemingly nowhere, slams into the back of the beached FOTW, sending it over the top of Spring-bok and putting itself in its place!

Before MacDuff can even react, Spring-bok! Springs open its launch-pad, throwing Macduff onto the arena€™s own launch-pad, the Floor Flipper! MacDuff hits the floor on its side, and before it even has chance to fall to the ground, the arena flipper sends MacDuff skywards!

MacDuff lands in a cacophony of metal on wood and klaxon blaring as Refbot signals for Robot No. 4 to enter the fray:

    From Parts Unknown€¦System Shock 4.0!

To a calamitous cheer and applause, Liam Elliot rolls his machine into the arena, and no sooner has the gate gone up, Liam€™s tracked terror is rattled by a ramming assault from FOTW, taking the new machine from the middle of the ring into the side wall in a blur of red and blue metal, ending in an almighty clang as the Hardox spikes of FOTW impale the exposed top track of System Shock, lifting it from its bearings.

In the meantime, Spring-bok! and MacDuff the 3rd are cautiously running circles around each other, looking for their opening to attack, and its Chris that spots his opportunity first, charging into the side flanks of MacDuff, shovelling it up onto the launch-pad, which springs, quite literally, into action, firing MacDuff in the direction of the yawning, smoking abyss, but thankfully missing it by mere inches! Keen to get away, MacDuff speeds away in reverse, towards the impaled and impaling System Shock 4.0 and FOTR, colliding with the two and freeing System shock from FOTW€™s spikes, tearing off a vulcanised pad in the process! That will help reduce his carbon footprint !

System Shock 4.0, reeling after that vicious assault from FOTR, aims to return the favour, turning to face the machine now pined into the corner by the back of MacDuff the 3rd. System Shock moves in, lifting wedge to the floor and sliding in neatly underneath the 6 wheels. The wedge starts to raise FOTR upwards, giving MacDuff the chance to turn around, and, bringing his own lifting device into play, lifts the bottom corner of FOTR, pushing it further up the wall, as Spring-Bok looks on at a distance.

Slowly but surely, FOTR is eased over the tip point, and falls with a thud on the wrong side of the fence! If took 2 robots to get rid of him, but Flick of The Wrist is the first victim, err, FICtem of the Royal Rumble!

Their teamwork done, MacDuff and System Shock turn on each other, with MacDuff gaining the advantage, pushing forward and up with the front spikes, levering System Shock up off the floor, allowing him to push it into the next corner.

Spring-Bok! meanwhile, sitting in the arena centre, decides it€™s a good time to get stuck in, and charges into the corner, wedging underneath the sides of MacDuff and letting loose the spring loaded pad, throwing MacDuff into the wall on its side, its track resting on the wall top. Spring-Bok! backs away to reload the launch-pad, which allows System Shock to reverse out of the corner, right into the side of the Refbot, just as the klaxon sounds, indicating the next machine is due to enter the arena:

    From Parts Unknown€¦Brutalis 2.0!

The door rises to reveal the Black, red and yellow Dantomkia look-a-like, and the second of Liam Elliot€™s machines, and driven by the mysterious Stig€¦.

Brutalis wastes no time in getting stuck into action, ploughing into the nearest robot to it...its own team-mate, System Shock 4.0! Brutalis hits the side skirts and rides up the side of System shock 4.0, the flipper firing at thin air, letting off a cloud of CO2 in its wake. As System Shock 4.0 pulls away from Burtalis, in the background, Macduff has motored its way off the wall and back onto the arena floor, and with spikes raised, makes a bee-line for Spring-Bok, ramming its way between System shock 4.0 and Brutalis en Route!

MacDuff makes a full speed contact with the exposed flanks of Spring-bok, who has been keeping a low profile since its assault on MacDuff, and is now paying for it, as it is shoved with force towards the arena walls much as it was in the early moments of this fight. As Spring-Bok! struggles to free itself from the front spikes of MacDuff, in the upper corner of the arena, Brutalis and System Shock 4.0 are too having their own personal scrap, with Brutalis making numerous futile attempts to get under its team mate, with each assault finding the side wedges and simply riding above them! But in a swift turn of pace, System Shock 4.0 turns with Brutalis up on the wedges sides, and turning the lifting wedge underneath, suspending Brutalis off the floor, and at System Shock€™s mercy!

As System shock pulls Brutalis away from the corner and into the centre of the arena, Spring-Bok! finally releases itself from the unwanted attentions of MacDuff the 3rd and motors away from the tracked terroriser, and turns to face the hoisted Brutalis, who is still being pulled towards the gaping Pit. Brutalis fires its flipper in an attempt to get away from the grips of System Shock 4.0, and succeeding, jumping off the wedge and landing on the deck with a bang, and before System Shock 4.0 has a chance to react, Brutalis is in underneath the raised wedge and in an explosion of CO2, System Shock 4.0 is sent flying towards the pit, crashing back to earth beside it, one track hanging over the precipice!

As System Shock 4.0 struggles to get away from the pit, the Refbot€™s klaxon resounds through the air to signal robot No.6€™s entrance into the mechanical mayhem:

From Hoogvliet in the Netherlands, Sideswipe!

Up rolls the shutter door and in rolls the gleaming silver Dutch spinner, the deadly 6000RPM blade getting up to speed, flashing dangerously on the robots front, and as Sideswipe gathers speed, MacDuff turns to the struggling System Shock 4.0 and gives it a small lift and push, and finishes off what Brutalis started, and sends Systematic Shocker 4.0 into the smouldering abyss and out of the rumble! One in, one out in the space of 20 seconds!

As the smoke wafts from the pyrotechnics, Spring-Bok! and Brutalis are locked side by side, turning together in a tight circle, neither wanting to give their opponent an inch to get their weapon into play.

The screeching of tyres is drowned out by the horrific cyclone noise emanating from the blade of Sideswipe, finally up to speed, and into the action with a chassis crunching assault on the side flanks of MacDuff the 3rd, sending him reeling back towards the pit where he had just come away from, but not falling to the same fate as System Shock 4.0.
As MacDuff falls back to its tracks, revealing a large scratch and dent in its Hardox armour, the scrap between Brutalis and Spring-Bok! comes to an abrupt end as Spring- bok! slips sideways to allow Brutalis to wedge under the sides of Chris Mason€™s machine and onto the flipper arm which erupts in a cloud of CO2, sending Spring-Bok! somersaulting over sideways before coming to rest in front of the flashing blade of Sideswipe, and has barely half a second to move anywhere before the blade comes crashing in with a resounding KERRANG!, sending a shower of white Titanium sparks into the sky, bending the side panel and spinning Spring-Bok! around on its wheels.

Meanwhile, MacDuff has taken advantage of Sideswipe being occupied by taking a charge at the rear of Brutalis, standing idle after its launch of Spring-Bok! and leaving its back end exposed to the lifting spikes of MacDuff, who lifts the wheels of Brutalis into the air, pushing it forward, passed the battered Spring-Bok! and onto the flame pit!

With a belch of propane the flames erupt from the grate and engulf Brutalis as MacDuff lowers the spikes and reverses away from the inferno, and into trouble, reversing up the wedge of Sping-Bok! and gets promptly thrown back towards the now recovering Brutalis.

Meanwhile, sat away from the action, Sideswipe is revving up the blade once again, as the Refbot, mere feet behind him, sounds the klaxon signalling for entrant No. 7 to enter the Rumble:

    From Methyr Tydfil, Noo Monsoon!

Up rolls the shutter door, and in charges the 24-spike-armed beast, slamming into the shiny rear-end of Sideswipe, leaving horrible scratches in the shiny exterior chrome-alloy. Enraged, Leo spins Sideswipe round and before Noo Monsoon has a chance to move, the spinning blade collides with the front, ripping off several spikes off the face of Dan€™s machine in a hail of sparks and rendered metal!

At the other end of the arena, still within flame lickin€™ distance of the flame pit, Brutalis and Spring-Bok are once again in a death dance with each other, as MacDuff motors away to recuperate from its battering since the beginning of the battle, but finds no solace as it gets a rear-end slam by the Tornado-esque Noo-Monsoon, looking slightly Hill-billy with the gaps in the front spikes. Noo Monsoon keeps up the assault, pushing MacDuff back down the arena towards the deadlocked Brutalis and Spring-Bok!, with the spinning Sideswipe in close pursuit.

As Noo Monsoon pile drives MacDuff into the wall, the front spikes of the tracked robot pierce the arena wall makralon, and as Noo Monsoon pulls away, MacDuff and Kody realise to their horror that the spikes won€™t come out!

As MacDuff struggles to free itself, Brutalis and Spring-Bok! have had the deadlock broken the hard way by the whirling blade of Sideswipe, connecting with the back end of Brutalis and sending it skidding across the arena, and Spring bok!, free from the clutches of Brutalis, takes its chance to put as much distance between itself and Sideswipe as possible! As Sideswipe begins its spin up and its pursuit of Spring-Bok!, MacDuff the 3rd is still struggling to free itself, rasing and lowering the front spikes in a vain attempt to un-stick itself from the polycarbonate walls, and Noo Monsoon makes the most of its opponents predicament, manoeuvring into the CPZ beside it, and takes a charge at the exposed flanks, slamming into the side of MacDuff and pulling him away from the wall€¦with the Polycarbonate section still stuck firmly onto the prongs!

The pressure continues and Noo monsoon pushes MacDuff past the broken pit button, now laying as a reminant of the earlier skirmish, and with a definite finality, sends MacDuff crashing into the smoke and onto the long-dead carcass of its own victim, System Shock 4.0.

    CEASE!!

€œThe judges have deemed the arena currently unsafe for combat. All robots must failsafe and remain so until the battle is re-started€

Well, whilst the magic arena repair elves put the polycarbonate and pit button back where they belong, you shall wait in anticipation of Part II !
