Once again, another great show. Despite the limited lineup, we still got some great battles (particularly the opening and closing fights of each show) and some upsets, too (the greatest of which was Merlins hard-fought victory over Mute at the start of the 3rd show). Throw in some organised carnage (Vortex ripping up sacrificial bots) and an on-going competition between the two sides of the hall (ie. each side supports a robot and the winner got a point) and you have a fine result. I even got to drive again (Leveller vs. Scar was given to the public) and actually won this time, although Scar did break down partway through. And a great six-way fight between Mute, Merlin, Behemoth, Big Nipper, Pussycat and Ripper to finish things off with. Nice.
Thanks to everyone who organised and competed in the event, hope to see you up here again sometime.
just got back.
very fun event and i thought it gave a good performance i liked it when i flipped the rc car and it hit the roof a couple of times![]()

Super event!
The small number of robots didnt cause much of a problem. Some great fights (cant think of one that was dull). Can we take that rock wall to other events aswell please??

Attended the Newcastle Sunday 1st August 12.00 show and a great day had by all. Our personal opinions (mine and my children) were that this event, although small scale, less grandeous and without big name presenters, was actually better than the Offical Robot Wars Live TeleWest Arena event of 2001 (at least I think it was 2001).
Because it was closer to the audience it seemed more real. The battles were battles and although a couple may have been calmed down to prevent damage (ie Pussycats blade didnt appear to be spinning) they were far less staged than TeleWest. Sparks flew, the pit stopped working, the flipper blade fell off but it was great.
KEEP IT UP!
The children would like a personal appearance at their school. How much?
All the best.
Jim
Great event. Great battles and loads of smoke.
In the first show flipper was running great flipping well with the compressers running really well when all of a sudden smoke started pouring out of the robot. I made a fool of myself shouting Im on fire, Im on fire then someone joined in Fire, fire, fire!!!!! It turned out the drive pack had broken the link accross the bottom of the pack. Nothing to do with me so I am sending them back. Luckally no unfixable damage. Replaced the two blown drive motors and that was it. The problem was then I had to run without the compressers and hence no flipper so i was a sitting duck. 2nd fight kenny flipped me and that was it I could do nothing. 3rd fight was much better. Pushing a few things about before alpha rammed me at full speed into the side of the arena beaching me on the flipper pannel and knocking out my receiver battery.
In the 3rd show kenny smoked when its led shorted out. Very impressive for the crowd but worrying for the roboteers luckally no major damage for him.
Great event all in all with in My opinion the proformance of the show being mute in the very veyr first fight. From practically the middle of the arena it flipped merlin against the screens about halfway up them! Very impressive.
Note to jonno: Can we have mute as a featherweight house robot so the arena flipper and it can play ping pong with feathers?
Regards
Ian
Was a good event.
Sorry if i looked down in gloom, was quite ill to be honest felt like i wanted to pass out a few times. But was a great event, with everyone on their tip toes. Wasgreat event.
Jim Clark - Contact Jonno@roamingrobots.co.uk mate about the school thing. hehe.
As for Pussycats blade, it was off due to a number of reasons. Main one being, even theor Pussycats blade maybe out of date a bit, it still has the potential to do some vital damage which is what we dont really want at some fun events like that. But was soo cool to see Mute flip her about. Great show!
Mr Stu
great event, probably one of the best. The small amount of robots actaully made it better as we managed to get in the arena when we wanted to.
Robots ran well all weekend, Alpha didnt loose a fight and the vantec perfomed well. Merlin won 3 out of 4 fights.
Highlights of weekend;
G3 and Kenny beating up Behemoth (nearly had him over)
Stu being Gaffad to a chair then locked in arena!
Listening to the keep fit club on the sunday morning!
See you at Stoke, hopefully new alpha will be done (although i keep saying that and it never is!). Weve just stripped Merlin so we can start on the new one.
