Using gold motors

Has anyone tryed putting a fan or somthing onto the drive shaft of an over-volted gold motor to keep it cool? Like a bosch 750.

Ewan ,Yes i did mod the front to take a 608 bearing.

Dave ,the fan inside the Bosch does next to naff all when used at a drive motor.Its never spininig fast enough for long enough.

By the way i also drilled holes in the casing of the gold motors but purely to save weight,i have taped over the holes.And i havent noted any difference in there performance.

putting holes in golds would not make much difference accept for weight as there is no fan to circulate the air through them. mounting in an obsorbant material is deffinatly the best way. Fans wouldnt make a large amount of difference even if it had them inside, Overvolting motors gets them majorly hot n seconds, far to quick for a fan to make much difference

Ive put a pic of Vertigo (as of saturday) on my profile. You may be surprised to hear Im putting the drive of micro-maul 05 (which went 6-1 at Rc Wars Wrexham) into Vertigo. Ive decided to stick with the gold for now (although I have modifed the gold with a bearing in the front boss). Testing will take place next weekend.

Looks likes its going to be made of two 290mm dia. 8mm hardox disks weighing about 3.6Kg and driven by an overvolted Gold Motor, dont know what the gearing is but it sounds like its going to be a bugger to spin up quickley.

Looks like my plastic drum is going to take a beating again but this time its Ev Warrior powered!
