Thread: Help with disc

  1. #51
I am going to add this. It does have potential as a weapon. The WHOLE weapon setup will weigh only 2.0kg (using the weight saved from changing the chassis & armour to 10mm aluminium all over). The old steel chassis weighed WAY too much for a featherweight, and was armoured way OTT in areas. I dont think many spinners will stand a chance of going through 10mm aluminium anyway (I am using the same construction idea of tapped holes all over holding the chassis together as http://www.teammadcow.com/alos.htmhttp://www.teammadcow.com/alos.htm this robot looks amazingly well built, and his is only around 6kg).

The whole drive system will be exactly the same, so itll still push/ram as it used to, the only difference being the disc can be used as a weapon while pushing...

  3. Yeah, Ive taken that into account, but the way that Micro-Maul evo 1 & Micro-Maul evo 2 are built means the top and bottom polycarbonate panels add to the twisting strength of the robot. Any hard hits will have to break the polycarbonate/shear a load of bolts to do anything.
I have seen that Alos only uses a carbonfirbre top, not designed for much structural strength. I guess the only way to test it is to but it against a load of spinners...

& thanks everyone, I have taken all of your comments into account with the finalised design of the disc.

    Cheers, Ewan

Hello, im also making some kind of disc weapon (like belladonna, only its a vertical spinner).
Id like to use a 24 v ev-warrior for the weapon, but, would I need 2 or would just 1 be enough for a featherweight?

ok, thats nice . Also, would one 24 v 3Ah pack be ok, or could i use something a bit less? like 2.4 Ah ni-cds?
2 Ah, 12 v would be enough for 2 drill motors, i guess.
