Bonded Elastomers are the company that we approached to produce the wheels for Storm II and come highly reccomended !

When we first approached them to get the Storm II wheels done they hadnt really figured out whether or not it was something that they wanted to be involved in - hence we didnt shout about them from the rooftops at the request of one of Richards colleagues.

However, following a conversation with Richard the other day were adding Bonded Elastomers to the Storm list of sponsors as well as some information on the wheels, the process and how to get your own super Storm II grippy wheels produced Theres no secret as to what the compound on the wheels is - its a 65 Shure (shure being a measure of rubber hardness) Vulcalan.

The first wheels that we ran on Storm II were far too hard and tended to glaze over - but as anyone who watched our Heat will know, the new wheels dont have a grip problem at all !

Shane, all youve got to do now is find a way to coat your tracks :P

Excellent! I always thought the hush thing was a bit silly, but now that this has happened, we should be seeing a lot more traction on many robots :-) This potentially paves the way for even more powerful motors, and so on. Its the wonderful evolution word again

ed, trax is sheps robot. i now have air which has selotape wheels on already. :P

We are also looking into it and may have some for Enginuity as thats another MDF floor and those of you who saw us at Worthing will know we need something else.

saw you at worthing we were sliding sidways past you. thorak could not get any grip. going to try wet weather tires rather than slicks. were also thinking about somthing different wheel wise for the next machine

dunlop kt3 is a good wet tire to try, weve been using them for a while.
The problems we have tend to be about power not grip.

weve been using the sl1 rear tyre and its like the robots on ice

Report on Vulcanon wheels. For Preston event we fitted new wheels to give them a test and after the last melee we dont have any Vulcanon left on the underside. We had about 8mm of tyre on 3 inch dia wheels. After a quick hard 5 minutes test at home all we got is a few scuffs and decided to try them at preston. We got 2 fights in total including the melee. After the first fight it didnt look like they had worn much at all but after the melee and a mess around with Air & cutlet at the end we were down to the metal. Dont know what happened but maybe they didnt stick to the wheels as good as they should.

Jonno, did you see any large lumps of Vulcanon when clearing the arena. Would like to know if they came off in one lump or not.
