played at riat event with some sucess putting a robot out of the arena. problem was the front hinge was weak and wasnt up to the job. so now i am yet again rebuilding with complete new chassis. base from hardeded ali with 5mm hardox front and sides. bout 8 inches thinner and about the same length with even bigger flipper. hope to do well at uk champs but then i hope to do well at any event.

well envy performed well at the ul champs. there are flaws like i didnt have a power return and got stuck upside down but these things can be easly fixed. anyway for those who care envy flipped oota.....leveller, big nipper, tan, das gapec, kan opener. i was pleased with envys performance but alas didnt win anything major. flipper broke on one battle and eventually burning out a motor ending envys champs. still it was a good week and i was over the moon. i have now put in envy some mag c40 motors so i can go to 24v and have a realible drive. went to portsmouth event for testing but in the rush getting the motors fixed forgot to tighted bolts holding the motor to the chassis eventually stripping the spur gears and losing drive on one side. portsmouth wasnt a good event for envy but i do hope to make up for it at notts. thankyou very much for the batteries mr bell i will now do some proper testing on ni-cads. oh and thankyou very much mr bell for the other thing. you know what i mean. i am now in the process of re-doing the drive back to form and this time i will make sure i tighten bolts. if anyone has watched the uk champs dvd i hope envy impressed. very well done to the big nipper lads and unlucky thz you will reign supreme one day. cant think of anything else at the mo but will keep envy thread updated for those interested. new pic on profile too but that was just a mess about paint job.

ordered new mo2 2 gears. a step up from 1.5 en24 steel so i do hope these hold up. if not i will cry. that or rebuild the whole robot.

tanto uses mod 1.5 dont see why you would need more than me? Tanto is (no offense mate) more powerfull sounds odd?

anyway mod 2 should do ya if not theres soemthing wrong

i think it might be the gear ratio too. i will be using 5.7 to 1. the motors will be working hard but i will have the speed. essential for effective envy. but i just want to be sure with mod2. i know it may be a little over the top but i hope it will last.

I have found 10:1 to approx 10 wheels to be about optimum, in other words - driving wheel dia in inches;1

Mighty Mouse has 6:1 ratio to 5 wheels.

Mod2 gears are good if you are not too precise with shaft positioning, but dont thin down the gears, I have to in Velocirippa and all the gear teeth are bent over.
