Looks very good ewan - seemed to work very well!
Only improvement i can think of would be to put some rollers towards the front of the robot so that it drives a little easier when youve grabbed some-one.
We found your wheel that little spinner took off when we packed the arena away did you want it back?

    Cheers Jamie

Hmm front rollers, thats the thing with a one day build... you never get round to doing the little things (and you dont get any sleep! Im hopefully not doing that again any time soon, lol)

lol dont worry Grant, I knew it was under the arena, I saw it fly there as with Stu but had plenty of spares If you still have the wheel around I wouldnt mind you keeping it on the side till the next event . Im looking forward to seeing your videos Grant!

    All the best

    ALI STOLE MY IDEA

    Power: 1x 24v 2.4ah nicad pack.
    Drive: 2 x 18v andrewmod drills @ 24v
    Controller: IBC
Weapon: 5kg Drum spun by 100 watt scooter motor
Armour: 3mm ali top and bottom 6mm -12mm sides.
Status: Finished and had a go in the rumble at robowars 4
Notes: heaviest drum ive ever seen in a feather

i just knocked it up for the robowars event. the drum never stops and it hits so freaking hard. had some slight build quality issues (XD such as the teeth bending cause the welding was garbage and the frame exploding itself).

drives didnt work properly so i need a new set. alas should be good when i fix her up for the next event with some A123 cells and that 5330 brushless .

btw ali, you need to pull those castors right up beside the drum. itll rock fowards non stop like that. and id give yourself more clearance on where the pulley goes.

Hmm, seems the time of the drumbots is here

    Name: Drumroll
Drive: Two 9.6V drills @ 12V on to 100mm blue wheels
    Controller: Two 50A Speed Controllers
Weapon: Drum (obviously! :P) driven by friction drive from a drill - keeping it simple for my first spinner - but will upgrade later once I have a better understanding of forces involved etc
Armour: Poly base, either hardox or ali sides, poly top and hardox slopey bit
Status: Designed (see profile) and currently sitting as a pile of parts (minus the drum)
Notes: Called Drumroll because its a drum....that rolls....plus Im a drummer - seemed fitting

Still need to work out the best way to manufacture the drum, and work out what bearings to use etc but it can easily function as a 2WD wedge/rambot until then.

Ill be honest and say I didnt think much of drumbots in the past. Then I came across Team Mad Cows website, read some reports and watched some vids and realised theyre actually pretty cool (and effective!) especially if all the factors (such as speed and strength) are spot on.

2007 : Year of the drums indeed
