Is this your first bot? As spinners are Hella dangerous and Shrapnel is one of the baddest in the fw class
I'd play it safe and assume that the same restrictions for Li-Po batteries apply to Li-Ion batteries as they are not specifically mentioned in the section which details the specific battery chemistries in which "no specific precautions" are noted. Then again, I follow the Li-Po rules for my Li-Fe batteries and they are listed. Best be safe than sorry.about the battery. I cannot see it being an issue if you got a charger Plus a lipo bag/metal box ( you shouldn't need it using a battery like that BUT EO may want it)

Lipo rules apply to Li ion But due to them being in a drill battery I do not know if they still apply
Yes, I assumed they would but in the same context, just because they are in a hard shell doesn't mean they wouldn't apply, that shell will probably be plastic and offer no fire resistance.

It will be the first competitive one that I will enter at an event.. I made a 4wd rambot last year and had it for a while but wanted to go the spinner route now there is more full combat events.
The standard powertool batteries are large and heavy compared to what they are capable of.
Well as been as I have no experience with lipo I’ll definitely take your word for that I just wanted simplicity and to stick to what I know, butf I’m going for the Propdrive 5050 with redbrick setup then May aswell not scimp on the battery.. I’ll pop into the model shop in york tomorrow to see if they have any decent 6s in and chargers. Any pointers on battery makes to avoid or are they all pretty decent?
So Iv been to the model shop, he has a Storm - 5s - 4.2ah - 35c . but it’s £115. I wasnt expecting to pay so much for batteries for a FW.
hobby king have a Zippy Compact - 5s - 4.5ah 35c for £41 what’s your advice on this? Or Is it worth getting two separate lower capacity ones and running weapon and drive of separate battery to relieve stress on a single battery?
then I could just get 2 x 2.7ah ones (weapon one with 35c and drive with 25c).
He also has a Powerpal2 intelegent charger which I will probably buy for £50
