Cheers. I had the drill ones just lying round so I used them but I should probably plan for when I run out.

I am desperately trying to remember my one electronics class many years ago. If I make my own the resistor would go on the positive (red) wire, right?

It wouldn't matter, however common practise is to put the resistor on the positive side before the LED
