In my opinion, it wouldn't be against the rules as you're allowed to use things to lock your link in place provided the can be unlocked/unscrewed by hand without tools. Best to flag it up to the event organiser arena marshal if you do though, because I used one in the past and the marshal didn't realise, ended up pulling the wire out the link rather than the link itself

I would point out though that sometimes these clips aren't enough and with a large enough impact they can come undone.

Your best bet IMHO would be something like that paired with a sliding link door so that it retains the link from popping out - since it wouldn't require tools to slide it it'd be legal still.
