and i have the spinners match will get it up at somepoint
i beleve the crowd reaction was cheerio cheerio cheerio a tradition scottish farewell for when you have truly faceplanted the pavement of life
The one part of the Event that Lynx actually did something useful, was great meeting you and the robot looked really good for a first effort. Just remember, you didn't do as badly as me![]()
thanks was great putting names to faces at this though i did work out why my robot seized up at the end i might have been too optimistic witht the loctite and glued the motor solid
well i thought i would drop in a little update seing as my last post was just after the scotland event
that event was a great learning experiance for me in tearms of driving and wheel atachment and how not to use loctight for the mk 3 i decicded to stick with 2wd after much procrastinating and waiting of parts from hong kong i decided sod it and looked at the flaws with the mk 2.
i sat and watched my fights and decided that i needed to
improve the drive train
slightky thinner wedge as 4mm was overkill
stop it being able to sit on its back end
after discovering things online and watchig more of other people robots i did some cutting and grinding and swareing and i think you will filnd the bot mostly an upgrade it now has much grippyer wheels that are attached witn double grub screws so it should be solid the base and top panels are going to be recut to fit better and will be made out of 2mm hdpe the side is 15 mm hdpe and the front is a 3 mm steel wedge that hase been grinded down to give better contact with the floor hopefully it will survive the big hits and with its new drive train it will be able to shove most things out of the way also did i mention its goong to be running on 14.8 volts so to quote the book of clarkson poowweeeerrrrrr
well folks its the long overdue update with what happened at the champs and plans for new creations and the next iteration of bone-crusher.
the uk beetleweight champs 2015
i rocked up to the champs with with a large degree of optimism and after getting everything plugged in and putting it in the arena for a test i discovered a major issue, the wonderful wheels i had basicly designed the whole bot around for max pushing power had absolutely zero traction on the arena surface i had to have them going at full speed just to get a hint of movement que panic and the bodging of some snap wheels to a a spare set of hubs i had with some hot glue suffice to say they were wonky as a clown car but no time left before the first fight meant i had to dive in to it.
bonecrusher mk 3 v bananageddon v rpm v incomplete control
well with wonky wheels i ploughed in with little ability to push against a very good spinner and Rory's one night superbuild and the beetle cluster that did much better than everyone expected i tried pushing incomplete control for a bit then got lucky and managed to shove one of the cluster into the pit with the other half decided suicided into the pit not much else happened as time was called and somehow i went through on a judges decision
bonecrusher mk 3 v limpet v incomplete control
this match had very little highlights in between fights i had tried to mcguyver some wheels useing gorilla tape and hot glue and it turned out to be utterly pointless as after much pushing and shoving limpet decided to end my champs run and dumped me in the pit
the future
boncrusher mk 4
first plans for this are better drive and traction thankfully someone was very generous and gave me some banebot wheels 4 to be precise so its going to be a 4wd upgrade with lots of grip and hopefully will lead to something more effective
scorpinok
one of 2 new bots comming this year very much an attempt at getting a spinner further in the uk champs than this year again updates comming soon
sweet dreams
this is more of a show bot than anything else basicly a beetle version of nightmare more info to follow once i have more to tell
