Anyone got a couple of the front sections of the casings around? Ordered some drills and after spending the last couple of nights swearing a lot at getting the chunks off I have given up and am just going to transfer the internals of them onto different casings
No motors or gears needed, just after some casings
easiest way ive fund is a big long allen key and a hammer

Got these ryobis on your recommendation and their doing my head in haha
once you take the screw out the chuck (which can be a pain) i then clamp the allen key in the chuck and hit the long end a few times in the direction it should unscrew and occasionally a belt the other way sometimes helps loosen it (especially if they've used locktite)
also tends to be easier if its in its case as it give you something to hold on to
stupid question time, you are remembering it's a reverse screw?
If you have a broken gearbox handy, you can make my 'last resort' wrench. Take the output shaft out of the casing, knock the pins out, drill out the holes slightly larger and either weld on a bar or grind flats on the shaft for a wrench:
Once the left-hand screw is out, dropping the wrench over the pins in the output plate as shown gives you enough leverage to get off any chuck.
Yeah yeah, got the reverses out but the chunks themselves are being a right pain to loosen

2 came off fine but one just wont shift with the shocks so will remain as the one I can gut for spares
The method Pete described works well. Put the biggest allenkey you can in the chuck (with the setup back in the drill case to secure it) and knock the end with a hammer. Might take a few tries but it should jerk it loose.
