Wheel placement

When going with 4wd off belts, my wheels are the same resistance etc but I want to encourage the robot to pivot more round the front

I have the option to have the back wheels out slightly wider than the front but still run the belts straight, will this encourage what I am after or just make it a pain to turn?

I think you're best off getting the weight biased to the front or reducing the grip of the back wheels in relation to the front (or both). Not sure how more spaced back wheels would affect the drive, probably not very positively. :P

I have no idea if it would drive fine or be awful but its an option I have to consider

Forwards and back shouldn't be a problem I would think as it all points the same way but it's turning I question

Forgot to note though the front wheels are the driven ones with belts to the back

Its them blue banebot ones with the bearings I got off you and some more worn robochallenge ones

I get the feeling wider back wheels would make it worse, a wider wheelbase turns more easily (less skidding), so those would grip more, taking the front wheels with them. It would drive fwd/back fine though. Again more weight over the front alone will do it, as it happens T2 and Rango both drive around the front wheels as there is more weight on them. If you can't shuffle weight around though, for the sacrifice of a bit of overall grip, the easiest way is to make the back wheels grip less than the fronts.

edit: wait, two different wheel types? Robochallenge wheels will grip way less than the banebots.

They have the same kind of feel to them but one set is new and the other isn't, pretty sure they are banebot blues but got them of calum so he would know

Weight I can shuffle forward easy enough with my weapon also being places forward, sacrificing badass-ness for reduced weight and drive reliability haha

no they were off the coopers they arent banebot wheels

You could screw bike tyre round the front wheels and leave the back wheels 'bare' to get more grip at the front than the back.

My 4wd feather weight turns more from the front rather than the back


As allready mentioned this is from majority of the weight being at the front (motors and large steel front) and the back only holding light electronics.
