BotBitz 10A ESC help

Can someone please tell me if the BotBitz 10A speed controllers need programming and if so how? I want to run them on 3s lipos.

They shouldn't need programming, don't think you can anyway. I believe that model is capable of running 3s. Their stock has changed since I bought some 10a models but they are for sure capable of 3s, they did have a different 10a model capable of 4s but I don't see that now.

Ok thanks, my main worry is draining the lipos too much.

OK I've now got confirmation they don't have inbuilt protection against over discharging, is there something I can do to prevent it?

Don't run your robot into the ground.

You've got a spinner right? Maybes get a brushless controller that does it if its an issue for you.

Yes I`ve got a brushless controller already, will this cut the power if I`m running the 10A's aswell?

Most controllers will drop out when the lipo reaches 3v per cell or so. I think you're over thinking this tbh. I doubt you'll run the machine hard enough to really damage the battery.

I think you're right, if it does any damage it's just one battery and I can try something else.

So confirming. There is no programming on the 10As or voltage cutout. You need to monitor your voltage usage but most people would prefer that their robot keeps moving slowly and risk a little bit of damage to their battery than the robot cutting out and stopping and losing so this was the logic behind the decision to cut this out.

As for voltage. The ESCs are rated to 3S as per their spec however....... I personally have run the ESCs up to 6S (BEC will be highly derated) but they do work. I would not advise you run them above 3S but you can if you aren't going to have a winge to me about warranty if things go awry. I have personally been running them as relay switches in several featherweight bots on 4 - 6S for quite a while now.

I plugged everything up last night , they worked straight away no messing. Can't wait to start now.
