Can I run 1/2" chain on a 1/4" sprocket? Reason for asking is I ran 1/4" chain and it was always a problem and on the existing motors is the same size sprocket. My idea is to have a 1/2" sprocket on the new Bulldog axels but want to avoid altering my motors

Darn it! Where to go from here.....

Does bulldog use a two stage reduction, use 1/4 from motor on to transfer shaft then 1/2 from transfer to wheel sprocket, just out of interest what problems are you having with 1/4 chain

Are you sure its 1/4 chain, never heard of it. UK tends to use 4mm, 8mm, 3/8, 1/2 and so on. Most heavies use 3/8 some run 1/2. Why the change in pitch?

Looking at your pics I would be 99% sure you have 3/8.

May well be 3/8 chain, was taking a guess from memory

My knowledge about chains and sprokets isn't that wide, im basically wondering if there is any way I can run thicker chain using my existing sprocket on the first stage and what type of sprocket I may need on the second

    Why do you need thicker?

Dont change the chain, the problem was wheel alignment and the drive being wonky. Aslong as everything was inline as it shud be the chains wouldnt keep comming off
