does anyone know in 2mm mild steel will hold up against the beetle spinner

It would really depend on the angle, but generally not that great I don't think. Thicker plastic armour or titanium would hold up much better.
unfortunately i haven't got a tig welder so ti is out of the question as the shape i want will need to be welded i could bolt some plastic round the lower half or get some high carbon welding rods and leave a bead of weld round the lower half
Its all a bit hard to say what will work as armour yet, you may well be fine with 2mm steel if the angle is right. What exactly are you making?
I believe you can stick/arc weld titanium if that helps.
I am going to be gambling on 3D printed armour so it cant do much worse than that now can it. I would say its fine, but bring a hammer and something to beat it against.
3d printed beetle? Nice! Care to reveal any details? Sorry, bit off topic.
i was going to do a slightly more complicated beetle version of scruffy
also i have looked for stick rods for titanium and i can only find the rods for tig
3d printing could be good and at least it would be easy to make spares

Would love to see a beetlweight Scruffy
That has fairly slanted sides, and doesn't have that many flat panels for spinners to catch. Hmmm. Have you considered bending 1 price of material instead of welding?
ive looked into others methods but welding is the easiest with what i have avalable
