I agree with Tem Event horizon. To compete you have to evolve you designs. If you ban certain materials then you will probably find machining techniques taking their place. I have limited maching tools and very impressed by some of the latest work. It doesnt stop me evolving and trying to improve my designs. What generally stops me is time. Therefore sweeping up my robot after an event is a bigger setback than replacing a burnt out standard part. Thats why I have reserved a hardox plate - to grt more life out of the robot chassis plus given the tools I have I can cut / weld / drill the stuff
