anyway started the repair today might as well give it ago,
opened up the roboteq and removed all thermal bridges, back of the board is in a bad way lots of solder furring from the lead free solder and also lots of bad soldering joints from new,

plan is to clean the whole board with alcohol and tooth brush, refloat all solder joints and replace all 4 battery cable inputs with new cable, re secure all capacitors with a hot glue gun and over the new and existing large size cables, this is standard practice on many board as it adds strength. Note bad design very little clearance on main power cables too heat sink, ie less then a rule thickness this would cause short circuit in heavy impact. applying a thin layer of ptfe self adhesive plastic to inner heat sink body to avoid this risk.
