First FW build - ProtorP

Hello there, I am new to robot building, and I have began to collect the parts I need to start building.

Currently I have ordered two 12V cordless drills and 30A ESC from botbitz which should be a good starting point.

Since its my first I think ProtorP is a suitable name (as in prototype).

I cannot tell you how long I've wanted to do this, hoping to be ready for the Maidstone event October 6th, hope to see the rest of you there.

Like I said it's a Featherweight, as for the body, I've had a little help getting a head start. I'll be showing more details as the build progresses.

It's gonna be fun.

Yeah I get that its a featherweight, I was just interested to know how you're building it and stuff. Nevermind lol.

Ok the plan was to use the Makerbeam/Openbeam beams to make the frame work from Technobots. They can make a very good frame, easy to adjust and replace parts if needed, basically its a more advanced Meccano kit. But given the help I've had, I now have a body with the majority of components and I'll modify it slightly and fill in the missing components.

This is a good start for me and during my time using this build, I'll be adapting it and planning to build from the ground up. Don't intend to give away much else until I get the major stuff.

Update following my recent purchase for my build courtesy of Josh fro Team Psychlone I am now the proud owner of what was Tempest. As of right now I am currently getting the radio gear and batteries to get it up and running while making a few adjustments to the body work.

I will have picture posted up later as to what I am changing, the main thing I am changing is the bolt sizes since some seem a bit excessive in length, so this is just to make it easier to carry out repairs.

Also I plan on using a bit of guttering to act as a dozer blade which I will have mounted on the front/back.

I may look towards changing out the HDPE for steel in future but for now, this is all I intend to do.
