Just weld over the gouges and grind them flat

that's what i was intending to do but after seeing what binky can cut through and with all the brushless spinners improving i was wandering if a coating would help or not, i will probably contact the company and see what they say at the end of the day if the will do it free or cheap it cant hurt

I doubt a coating will help against the real heavy hitters.
After all, we're talking microns thin stuff. The coating can be hard as diamond, but the backing makes it all.
Imagine diamondcoating 1mm 1000 series aluminium plate.
