didnt work! I'm having a closer look at these hacked Tx sets (http://www.overkillrc.com/gt3bfeatures.htm) but the hobbyking set will do for now. thanks again for all your helps guys.
Hi Dan
I'm having the same problem with my Dx6i and TZ85a's. As far as I know the issue is something to do with the program on the hacked ESC's and them not being able to interpret channels mixed in a certain way. It might have something to do with the RX your using. I've got the cheap Orange RX's but I know people running exactly the same set up with an AR6110 in place of the Orange didn't have any drive issues at GSL.
The problem is that when the input signal to the ESCs goes above 100%, they shut down. This is programmed in and I've contacted botbitz to see whether this could be changed. If you use the elevon function and those mixes for 100%, it sends the signal to its max possible value.
I've got both those receivers and neither makes any difference. Will keep working on it.
I noticed this problem as well, using a mixer which I am assuming is identical to the Turnigy one posted earlier (got it from GiantShark). Tony and I suspected it to be the mixer that was the issue as the same problem occurred in the small kits we ran at GSC, but if it's happening on the GWS mixers too, then I would assume it's something to do with the programming in the ESCs (incidentally, the small kits mentioned were running BotBitz 10A units).Very simple, only complaint with the tz85s I suppose is that when you put the stick fully into a corner of its travel, it doesn't move. I assume this is some sort of mixer+tz85 combined issue as it didn't happen when we used to run electronize.
While it may not seem to be a major problem, it does mean that you're not able to command your robot to turn around one wheel at full speed and if it cuts out instead of this, it could be a split second action that affects the course of the battle.
Will mess around with some other mixers and see what the results are.
Having the same problem. Using a DX6i with orange receiver. TZ85a with hacked software. Spotted this when benchtesting my bot.
Agree its an issue in control of the bot and it needs to be more precise
Havent had a look at the software to see if it can be programmed out
Had a quick look at code and the calibration software still seems to be there.
Away at present so havent been able to check but have a look at the tz85a manual
