At the moment we've had over 30 heavyweight robots entered for the competition.
With regards to coming to watch without a robot, I'll say the same thing as I've said to everyone who has asked to come along and watch for free. I'm taking the risk to put this event on to raise money for charity. This is 100% a charity event, raising money for Children's Charities across East Anglia. I'm sure we'll find some room in the pits for you to watch from, but please do buy a ticket to the event if you're wanting to come to the event without a robot - consider it a small donation to charity for coming along.
If this is a charity event which I think is a great thing, why is there a prize fund? This is 100% a charity event, raising money for Children's Charities across East Anglia
To pay for the repairs Ed intends to do with Tiberius.
What a curious question.
I think the real question is why shouldn't there be one (there always used to be prizes at charity events). More importantly with so many teams giving their time, effort and investment to help raise money for charity, it is only right that there is something to play for, and the roboteers are looked after like the stars that they are. Without their commitment and involvement there would be no event and no money for charity.
Being able to provide a prize is a fabulous way of me as the organiser saying "thank you" to the teams for supporting the event.

PS. Ceri - Tim's in charge of delivering damage with Tib ;-) !
Marler.... If you win the prize fund...then just donate it back to the cause. I will be doing just that. No worries
Sorry forgot to ask....What robot will you be entering??
If I were to enter which is looking unlikely due to how far I've got with it and how 'over' subscribed it is, my HW we've discussed
Sounds like a good idea Swanny re the money but I still think that shouldn't be necessary the charity could be £1000 up from the start but hey ho each to their own....
Just a quick update guys, can you pleas make sure you sign up soon, we are getting near our limit. We have over 30 robots signed up so far, with a few old faces reappearing including THZ, along with 5 other UK Champions.
