    does anyone know how to set the failsafe ?
    at tha moment when i turn off the planet t5 transmitter with a channel in use
    it dosent reset to neutral on signal loss, it aparantly is fully setable but how ?

    got it sorted , here is how to sort it out -

    The only channel that has fail safe to a preset position is the throttle channel,
    (out put 1 on the RX) all the others are hold.
    fail safe on the throttle channel is set every time you switch on, ie; turn tx on with throttle and trim down, then turn on rx, the rx remembers the throttle setting as the fail safe possition. To test, set to full throttle and turn off TX, throttle should fail safe to low power position.
    would have been better for failsafe on all channels but 1 is better than 0 !
    they should have put this in the book really.

    if anyone wanted failsafe on the right tx stick then you will have to change mode in the tx,
    so throttle channel 1 would be on the right.

    update-

    these are ok for ants as you are very close or playing at home..........

    don't work for f/w combat as if you walk 10mts away from the robot you can loose signal

    and major controll issues in the arena (problems start when all the other f/w's start up)

    its too cheap and not powerfull enough.

    Interesting. We have been having radio issues lately. I had it down to being the Botbitz' breaking function overriding my transmitter signal and so there are delays between my fingers and the robot (visible in my videos of Mad Metal Machines last year), but it isn't consistent.

    Is there such a thing as a signal booster for these radios? Obviously would prefer to avoid shelling out a chunk of cash for a whole new setup, unless someone has something going for not too crazy a sum.

    The optimum antenna length for 2.4Ghz is quite a bit longer than what is supplied with most Rxs. Can't remember the exact length, I quoted it to Mouldy when we have having issues with 720 on his build thread.

    The full length of the 2.4GHz wave is 125mm. That is as long as the antenna needs to be. Longer or shorter will just detune the antenna. Also keep in mind companies know this too. They will have their RX's tuned for that band already so extending or reducing the antenna will more than likely be detrimental to the performance.

    If you're referring to the RadioLink set, I have one and I know a few others that use them. Main problem I've had with it (and I know others with the same issue) is that on its own, the transmitter and receiver bind fine when everything is powered up, but when 15+ robots are being armed up in a FW mele, the mass concentration of 2.4GHz signals seems to drown it out and the receiver will not bind to the transmitter. Turning it off and on does nothing, yet once the robot's back at the pit table and away from all the other 2.4GHz units, it works perfectly fine. I've had to pull one of my robots out of a mele on a couple of occasions due to this.

    The other issue I found with them was that the receivers tended to die suddenly without reason, but I suspect shocks were playing a part. The first two I had suffered from this, although the one I currently have is fine and has been for the past couple of years.

    That's exactly my experience of the RadioLink sets.

    exactly the same with the planet t5 aswell, works on the ant arena ok !
