True - depends on what thickness and what angle you bend.
I've bent 1.5mm without any problems at all, no heating used. A proper bending machine is a must though as well as good edge preparation of the sheet to be folded.
For intricate shapes I'd prefer to cut to size and then weld or bolt together.
