Thread: Electrical Gremlin

  1. #1
I recently bought some cheapy ESCs from eBay which work fine except for one thing. There is a 1s delay when changing directions, which although sounding insignificant actually makes it impossible to drive!

Guilherme (Galactus) uses the same ESCs and doesn't have this issue so thinking it must be something my end I have swapped, changed and eliminated every possibility I can think of to no avail, so thought I'd open it up to the forum.

    What I've done:
There is no delay on a servo.
Changed The Rx and Tx to a different brand.
Used an external Rx battery instead of the built in BEC.
I have stripped the system down to it's most simple, then complex and everything in between to see if that could make a difference, but nothing.

    Any ideas?

    ESC is busted?

They're both identical in they're behaviour though, which is what led me to believe it was something else.
I emailed the seller (eBay, Hong Kong) soon after and got some incomprehensible crap back about how I should use Futaba *sigh*

But now I'm pretty sure I have exhausted everything I can think of!

Which ESC? ESC's with a relay setup to switch direction all have such a delay.

    It's one of these:

Although from a different eBay seller.

I don't believe they do have a relay and my Electronizes which I know do have a delay nowhere near as bad as this.

i also used them to test out the wheelchair base unit i had worked fine a 14.4v but burnt out when i put the voltage up lol

Could be that the braking and acceleration ramps are very shallow to spare the components.
    That's simply programation.

Oh well, Team RCC is going to try the BotBitz TZ85's.

i'd imagine it will be what mario suggests some in built protection - my old sabertooth did the same thing

so there won't be a fix im afraid
