Gary, can you name one other championship winning driver who managed to hit the arena wall twice during their run?
is it too late to nominate Gary?
I think the key to being a good driver is consistency. And no-one can drive their robot consistently straight down the pit as well as my dad, so I'm nominating him.
I remember Barnsley 2010 very well. He spent about the first minute of a fight just spinning in haphazard circles, then with great skill he managed to drive the robot in a perfectly straight line right across the arena and into the pit.
No contest.
I would take a wild stab in the dark and guess that every other winner hit the arena sidewall more than I did. The difference being that when I did it, people took note
I say Ian Lewis from Razer - Spinner's can just point in the general direction to get a hit - and Razer won the most too. A RW UK winner, double world champion and then survived to win the gigabot rumble over in the US with loads of robots int he arena for 10 mins.
Grant your a bloody good driver...I recon you should get the title of the best driver ever.![]()
I know I'm the best driver - but as I won (well joint won) the best FW driver award I didn't feel like I need to keep reminding everyone. I might make a DVD with all my best fights in so that people can learn from my awe inspiring skill![]()
That's if he ever has a robot![]()
Also i say a mention to Hender Blewitt: the driver of Roadblock/ Beast of Bodmin! getting beast of bodmin that far is so impressive
