Maybe try moving/inverting the servo leads around on the rx, see if its maybe in the wrong channel. Other obvious one, made sure the battery is charged?

But then i don't think the bec wouldn't be powering the receiver so the receiver light wouldn't be on

The receiver can still get power, I accidentally had a plugin upside down a while back and it still lit up.

That is correct even upside down the RX would get power. the plus wire is in the middle and signal will act as a minus while testing for signal.

I've just checked and it sure is backwards. It says on the RX which way round to put them in so always check that.
